Reading and studying yourself isn't the same as having a qualified person teach you.

He's in his 70's, it shouldn't be surprising that he doesn't know how to work a computer.

He obviously doesn't do it to get a job or he'd be done decades ago. He does it because he wants to learn. I like classes that have little to no job application but teach me a lot about the world. You guys should star in an Everest College commercial .

I just isnt rational to me. I mean, if he had a career, even as an underpaid teacher, and did this, it would make sense. But he works as a parking attendant to pay for school. He's qualified to get a better job, and has been for probably 25 years.

He could start his own business, become a professor, or anything in the world. He has at least one doctorate. He opened up doors of opportunity and wont walk through them.

You're still looking at higher education as means to an end. The knowledge is what he wants. Not a job. He's putting higher education to the purpose for which it was originally intended.

I understand what you're saying, and I know my argument is not changing much, but I still don't understand the purpose.

But nonetheless, to each his own. No hate for the dude, but it's a concept I can't understand.

Good for him. He's living life as he sees fit. The sheer number of degrees may be overkill but it's certainly commendable.

Learning, pursuing and attaining personal accomplishments, improving one's self - all good things.

Well would you like to explain why this story makes people feel the need to say:

They could just be talkin shyt, that's what i got from it. Y'all go to far with this "hate" garbage. People think it's dumb and discuss it. It don't mean they're hating. What he's doing is hella unconventional, and strange.

So if people say fukk him, then that's how they feel. Let them be.
