Knowledge is useless without application.

Dude needs to learn how to use a fukkin computer too. After all those degrees, he can't even do what's considered basic in society.:beli:

Not hatin on him, he can do whatever he wants, but he should have shared that knowledge in a career or volunteer environment somewhere along the way. At least that way he would have contributed something in life.:manny:

with the computer thing, you guys gotta remember he is 71. not too many people that age really can, or really do use computers. so even if he didn't have all those degrees, i wouldn't be surprised that he doesn't use a computer.

but in regards to all those degrees, i applaud him on his accomplishment because i couldn't and wouldn't have even bothered with the college education system considering the condition that it's in. he does see the education as the ends and not the means, which is great in my humble opinion...

In the olden days education was often an end, not a ways to find a job or whatever. Why question someone who enjoys learning new stuff? Some people need to travel each year, he needs a new degree, the debt thing can be an issue but he's working to support himself, more power to him for doing what he feels like doing.

He should change the design of his resume. Paper doesnt equal job experience.

I dont even think he wants money. His last degree was criminal justice.
About the computer stuff, he should have learned by now. He's been in school for the last 50 years. Somewhere along the line he should have learned how to use one.

It makes wonder how much of this is actual applicable knowledge and how much is just passing basket weaving to have enough credits for another diploma.

I understand the search for knowledge, but whats his end game? It seems he just has a thirst for general education, he could get that from reading.

It sounds like an addiction to me. He cant stop getting degrees that he cant apply. A true career student.

Reading and studying yourself isn't the same as having a qualified person teach you.

He's in his 70's, it shouldn't be surprising that he doesn't know how to work a computer.

He obviously doesn't do it to get a job or he'd be done decades ago. He does it because he wants to learn. I like classes that have little to no job application but teach me a lot about the world. You guys should star in an Everest College commercial .
