im baffled as well
melo is a top 10, possibly top 5 player in the NBA. in this market he deserves max money, period.
he has at least 3+ more years of putting up 27 and 8. and his game will age gracefully, because he'll always be able to create enough space to get his shot off, and he'll always be a bully around the rim. those aspects of his game will not be negatively affected by time.
knicks shouldn't be in panic mode trying to make a bunch of moves. bring back the core and add a PG if you can. i think people are underestimating how much this team will improve off the strength of getting rid of woodson and adding d fish and phil.
plus the east is wide open so the time to try and win is now. no reason the knicks couldnt be in the finals NEXT YEAR if they continue to make smart moves. but re-signing
is a must. i have yet to see any legit scenario where the knicks come out better after losing melo.people are worried about the wrong contracts. stat is 20+ mil, tyson is in the teens, so is bargani... but none of that is melo's fault
so how you gonna try and short the one person on the squad who is pulling their weight?
