I said maybe a couple of weeks ago in this thread that if Melo is serious about winning a ship as a Knick, opting in was his best move. It's a no-lose situation for him, It gives him a year to say to Phil show and prove or I'm ghost

If they was the case opting in is dumb. He should sign the max with a player option next year. If he opts in then blows out his knee his fukked

All contracts include this language

The Team may terminate this Contract upon written notice to the Player if the Player shall at any time, fail, refuse, or neglect to conform his personal conduct to standards of good citizenship, good moral character (defined here to mean not engaging in acts of moral turpitude, whether or not such acts would constitute a crime), and good sportsmanship, to keep himself in first class physical condition, or to obey the Team's training rules.

So the knicks would have an the legality to try do it, however I doubt they will. It would set a bad precedent when it comes to how the knicks treat their players. If anything they can trade him or stretch his contract to the point it would be the equivalent of a cap hold.

Also I am liking the stuff I am hearing from phil, It seems like a honest breakdown of where the knicks are

1) Melo opting out isn't as good as Melo opting in
2) Kerr did do the knicks dirty
3) No way should the knicks do any trade with the Nuggets if possible.... fukk the nuggests

How can you sign a new contract and be able to opt out after one year...Doesn't make sense homie. Melo could tear his Acl and still probably pull a pretty big contract

1. You can by having the Knicks offer you one.

2. You said "probably" so now your admitting their is risk

But why would the Knicks do such a thing? I don't even think I've heard of such a thing outside of a 2 yr deal

Of course its a risk but like I said Melo will get paid regardless

Phil is doing and saying all the right things.

Plenty of time to see how it shakes out. I'm sure he has Dolan set to purchase a draft pick in the late first early second.

Who or what kind position would you like to see with that?

Thoughts on Vasilije Micic? He could be there in the early 2nd.
