isn't this counter productive though? like doing the "big chop" and getting a relaxer shortly after? this is what i mean by constantly manipulating hair instead of just letting it grow. that doesn't mean walking around with an unkempt afro either.

Growing your hair out from a big chop is THE pits. Honestly I'd rather just get my 2 all over with a soft edge than have this in between business. There is big difference in short natural hair and short relaxed hair. HUGE difference.

Traction alopecia, when you wear braids and constantly weave your hair it causes the hairline to move further back because.


A lot of black women unfortunately suffer from traction alopecia, it's why so many chicks have that egghead look. Once I noticed my ex's hairline, I couldn't stop seeing it and swore to myself I'd never fukk with a chick that has weave/braids again.

I'm personally not worried about how it looks, I just want to be able to do something different with it. You have more options with longer hair style wise than you do with short hair.

With all that said dudes aren't really checking for natural girls with short fros. Dudes will call it (and the girl) ugly in a heartbeat. So for a woman giving a damn about a man's opinion, I can see why she would turn to a weave to gain acceptance.
