So putting in relaxers/perms doesnt damage your hair follicles:dwillhuh:

Doesnt that shyt burn ur scalp? I dont have any sisters so lemme kno

That shyt cant be good for hair growth

I don't use relaxers but it can be very damaging and I, honestly, would never suggest for anyone to get one but there are women who can retain length even with a relaxer in their hair. My aunts and cousins are relaxed and all of their hair is down their backs.

so basically, black women wear weave all year round to protect their hair from the elements. :alright:

Of course not but some are also growing out their natural hair too. After doing a big chop, their hair is really short so they wear weaves until it gets longer. Then for others you already know the reason for that. I won't deny that there are black women who don't like their real hair.

This doesn't include celebrities tho. Most of them wear weaves because of their busy schedule and because if they were to mess with their natural hair the same way they do weaves, they would have no hair at all.

Heat=breakage.

but there are a lot of women that need to do a better job of taking care of their hair. i grew my hair out for 2.5 years (02-05) and went from ceaser to shoulder length braids.

I wear my hair natural.

Reading comprehension is severely underrated because didn't you just say that. LOL.

Trying to explain hair (especially natural hair) to some men is pointless and tiresome. They'll never understand it.

isn't this counter productive though? like doing the "big chop" and getting a relaxer shortly after? this is what i mean by constantly manipulating hair instead of just letting it grow. that doesn't mean walking around with an unkempt afro either.

shyt is just mind boggling when you put it in perspective. you'd think black men had a different hair texture than black women if you were completely foreign to the situation.

Women are more self conscious about wearing really short hair than men are.

i wasn't speaking specifically toward her, but she wants to pick and choose when she defend weave.

and i think y'all make natural hair way more complicated than it is. why do you think we wont understand when we have the same hair you do? i've grown my hair out before, and i didn't need protective stylings :stopitslime:

I'm quite sure you also didnt try out cute hairstyles in your hair. You probably just picked it out and went on your way.

When I go out, I'm not trying to wear cornrows. I want a cute style to go with my cute outfit and a lot of my cute styles involve heat.
