Been bored out of my mind these past two days. Listening to offline Spotify on my backup phone these past two days. That and daydreaming, reflecting on life, taking trips down memory lane, etc :leostare:
Luckily my sister has power so I’ve been able to hang out over their and charge my stuff up

Feel for yall without power, at least it cooled down a little.

Security guard at the job said utility company is telling him Monday/Tuesday for his area.

A few people I know lost their cars and ones house got fukked up in a flash flood.

People look for damage just by expecting wind to toss shyt around but literally everything that can fukk up you or your house/belongings is on the table during a hurricane.

My power was restored in the middle of the night last night, it stayed on for good this time!

Doordash/Uber Eats/Grubhub seemed to have suspended all delivery operations in my area due to the storm (I have accounts with all three :flabbynsick: ).

I hope Chick N Bones is open today, been wanting to try their food but kept putting it off. I have a way of getting there so I don't need the delivery apps for that restaurant.

Tampa bay is NOT 100% back to normal. My local Mcdonalds AFAIK has yet to reopen while Burger King reopened, heard the BK location near me is extra busy due to so many restaurants still being closed.

Overall, on a personal level it wasn't that bad and I'm thankful for that. Getting though this situation with only a two day loss of power is probably the only W I took since I moved down here :mjlol: Since I know there's ppl out here in Tampa Bay that took bigger L's due to Milton.

The closer it got to Florida in the waning hours, the weaker it got. Seeing its category decline as rapidly as it did was interesting to me. The initial reports were that it was gonna hit Tampa as a Cat 5. A cat 5 direct hit. Either way, I’m glad ppl evacuated.
The initial reports were exactly what you said breh. Cat 5 direct hit. It wasn’t until the thing damn near made landfall that reports were claiming a Cat 3 and not dead on Tampa.

Yeah. The reports were that it was a Cat 3 with alot of real estate between Mexico and Tampa for it to upgrade to a Cat 5. I don’t recall the initial repors saying that it was going to remain a cat 3. It upgraded to Cat 5 and that’s when everything went haywire. They were mostly correct. But still, how quickly it weakened was a mystery. Because it was basically a Cat 5 maybe 100 miles from Floridas coast? Everyone fully expected this to be a cat 5 direct hit storm of the century. Thank god it wasn’t, and thank god most Floridians heeded evacuation orders.

No Tampa absolutely dodged the bullet. The fear was that the eye of Milton was heading directly to Tampa Bay and that everything south of the eye, like St. Pete and South Tampa would get the entire Bay flushed into it. It wouldn’t matter if it was a category 3 or 5, that surge would have put the Bay Area under 10 to 15 feet of water.

But the storm landed 50 miles south of Tampa around Sarasota, which resulted in a negative storm surge in the Bay (the water literally got sucked out of the Bay and went south of the eye).

It has nothing to do with the storm making landfall as a category 3 as that was the forecast all along.

Tampa has continued to defy the odds as they still haven’t had a direct hit in 100 years. But the day a major hurricane does go right into the bay will be catastrophic.

50 miles was the difference this time between Tampa having a negative storm surge and South Tampa being under water.

Once it became Cat 5 out in the gulf, many ppl were almost certain that it’d be a direct hit. Partially correct. True.

The day that storm hits Tampa directly, will be a bad day for Tampa. True. Well…I’m sure vegas has odds on when that day will come. Maybe it comes this season. There’s alot of time left.

The storm has also affected Amazon delivery times, can't get nothing sooner than Thursday even with a prime membership. Prior to the storm I could order something early afternoon and get it between 5 - 7PM :banderas: Order something the night before and it would be outside my door by 7AM the next morning :wow:

Also Burger King was PACKED for a Saturday afternoon today when prior to the storm it was usually pretty chill in there. Shoutout to the BK workers and other fast food & supermarket workers for working days after a hurricane hit :salute:

Also shoutout to the lineman whose working to restore power throughout the affected regions :myman:

How do you get "caught off guard" like this in a storm surge/hurricane?

That woman is holding a drink.

I was able to fly out of Tampa on Sunday with no issues, bright sunny skies, pilot had us at JFK in under two hours, man wasn't playing :mjlol:

I don't know how you Florida cats do it, the weather alone in FL isn't enough for me to accept the threat of flooding my home year over year.
