The issue at hand is Drake calling himself a Top MC. IF Drake referred to himself as just an "Artist" then nobody will have an issue with his claims as being the "best artist". If Drake only gets help on his "singing" records then meh so people might give him a pass, but if dude got a Maple Syrup Slave Ship going on then his credibility as an MC is thrown out the window. OVO makes Good Music Yes, but can drake still be considered a top rapper when it comes to the ART FORM of being an MC, hell no.

But for a singer.....singing with your voice = rapper writing his rhymes
So as long as Beyoncé is using her voice to sing the songs and that's really her on stage dancing the dances, she is a legit pop star. Drake is a pop star.

A rapper not writing, even worse, just covering tracks someone else writes and spits to a beat is the equivalent of finding out some old lady recorded all the vocals of beyonces hits in the studio while she sat there.

The songs that opened this can of worms though were a handful of rap songs. If he was getting all his R&B shyt done for him but was using his own creativity to wreck shyt as an MC (which he is marketed as) as well as come with catchy rap shyt we wouldn't find this so terrible.

I enjoy Drakes Music, but after this last summer I would never put Drake on any kind of list about top MC, the same way I would never put Dr.Dre or Puff Daddy. They all made classic music but none of them are pure MCs. Nas, Jay, Kendrick, J Cole for what we know are pure MCs thus when we listen to them we approach their music much differently than we would approach Puff and Dre dropping music. Drake would be better off if he never calls himself a lyricist again, because theres nothing wrong with NOT being a lyricist/pure MC, but there IS something wrong with making those claims yet not completely owning your writing process.
