so y'all were expecting a RnB singer who got his break on Degrassi High to "spit these bars" and come with "the real hip hop?"

The Drake hate got me :deadrose: for real. Drake's doing what a pop artist is supposed to do: find new talent, make things watered down and accessible, leech from the underground... How are you gonna hate on a dude for doing his job correctly?

Use ya head dingbat :mjlol: .

With the information that you have acquired today of how PRODUCERS AND ARTISTS come together in writing camps to make songs for Drake. Use ya deductive reasoning skills.

Champagne signed Mike Zombie around the same time as Majid Jordan n many others and they were ALL part of this writing camp process. Started From The Bottom was a song that came out of this camp. The "remix" that Mike Zombie put out is obviously the original reference track.

The one champage was listening to on his way back to the crib off the usb :mjlol:
How much are these artists making to give up there work tho?

Not saying I agree with it. But if nikkas getting thrown 100k to give up a song with potential I can't say it's not smart. Fake af but smart.

Grab hungry artists who need money to get themselves in position. Bring em in, throw em some big checks, take a hit (which most the originals don't sound nearly as good) and perfect it.

Spooky breh.

I got zero problems with people that like Drake's music but his fans on this board were never on some "oh, I just like his music". That shyt started after the reference tracks. Suddenly nothing matters but the finished product.

That's why I said this hopscotching shyt needs to stop. Him having help don't matter, as long as the music is hot right....but the same dudes are in every thread running damage control. Or trying to split hairs on how much help he has. If it don't matter why even address it?

Fred.
Now it's all about the end music & how it sounds, lyrics don't matter:francis:

I don't expect you all to agree...but...the guy is talented with the SKILL of putting words together, flipping phrases, punchlines, and general wit.

Its easy to pass his music off, especially the lead singles, but on his features and album cuts, its hard to really deny the man his credit.

Its a nuanced argument you have to appreciate. He understands diction to a degree FEW other rappers truly do.

Going back to Room for Improvement, theres so many slick lines and hidden wordplay that often gets overlooked by people who claim to really appreciate the craft of rapping.

If you're struggling to find my point, just listen to Drake's verses or better yet, read the lyrics as you listen to the songs.

The guy is pretty elite when it comes to the structure and presentation of his lines.

stop it with all of this nonsense.

Drake is a far superior lyricist to Kendrick

to be fair, MAnnie Fresh said they all worked on albums. Back when they were doing Juvie "400 Degreez", everybody(Turk, BG, Wayne, Juvie) was in the room throwing out ideas. I can accept that.

I can accept writer camps in R&B. Tyrese did that for his last two albums.

Difference is, Tyrese isn't a song-writer, nor is he hailed as a rapper.

To basically pluck random dudes off the internet, probably take 75% of their publishing and credits is :upsetfavre:. On the flip-side, it just means Drake is a pop artist and nothing else. Taking dudes best work and crediting yourself for it is :scust:

The issue at hand is Drake calling himself a Top MC. IF Drake referred to himself as just an "Artist" then nobody will have an issue with his claims as being the "best artist". If Drake only gets help on his "singing" records then meh so people might give him a pass, but if dude got a Maple Syrup Slave Ship going on then his credibility as an MC is thrown out the window. OVO makes Good Music Yes, but can drake still be considered a top rapper when it comes to the ART FORM of being an MC, hell no.
