The southern union part was hyped up on here, but that was part of a trailer which showed a lot more gameplay. They are part of a larger piece of the puzzle. It's only "racial themed" because the Mafia series was always more grounded in realism from the jump. The narrative is very very well put together.

You can't base a game in 1968 and not bring up race. The story doesn't isn't going to hold back because someone may get sensitive. Yea you are going to get called a ******. Yea people are going to treat you different based on your skin color.

Welcome to America. Where playing as a black protagonist in a video game makes people go :whoa:

:aicmon:

Yeah, i get that. I guess where i was coming from its that if the character is getting called out his name during a cut scene or maybe a shoot out or two to add emphasis, that's reasonable. It just seems like it would start wearing thin if it's being thrown at you left and right gratuitously just because the publisher thinks they're being edgy.

All them flops and cores aint saving you from bad ports and the inherent random buginess and troubleshooting that comes with PC gaming. :smugdraper:
For real. Bad port so far. No 60fps, no SLI. I'm just gonna wait it out for a patch

Tell me where I'm wrong? :yeshrug:

Tarantino's Django could have been a great revenge flick, but instead it's bushes status because of the how many time he used the word at unnecessary times. Now that The excitement of that klan rally gif has worn off, did they do it justice, or just as a means to get sales and use the word?

What you think so far fam?

I like it a lot so far.

The story gives you a thousand reasons why you do what you are doing. I don't want to say too much about it, but its like a well written movie. They do not hold back and the characters are believable.

The atmosphere of this game is amazing as hell. You are a black man in 1968 and will be reminded:wow:
I walked into the wrong bar, got sucker punched and the cops were called :pachaha:

The random dialogue from people in the area makes things feel alive. Folks talk about the Vietnam war, Martin Luther King being shot, what is going on in the city etc.

The combat gives you tools to do whatever you want. I could stealth through an entire area for fun if I wanted. Knife fools around corners, hide bodies, whistle to get their attention, etc.

They do a "last known location" thing like what Splinter Cell Conviction had. They will seek out and shoot at the last place they saw you, allowing you to go around and flank em. Thing is, they will flank you. Some will flush you out with grenades and molotovs. You can go Rambo all you want and not get penalized for it. You do "brutal executions" which makes everyone around who saw it freak out, giving you some breathing room. I love the shooting in this game, headshot after headshot. With the lame starting pistol too :banderas:.
I carry a sniper rifle to pick guys off in the distance. Man, when I plug a guy at close range and he goes flying into a wall :banderas:

Driving is pretty arcade like, but you can turn on sim mode for more of a realistice feel. I don't use it, I love flying around corner with ease.

When that camera swoops around to make you feel the Gs:whew:

I guess my small gripe is that I don't have total freedom yet, but I'm working on getting Vito and Burke atm. I was getting all the collectables in the first district before moving on. You wiretap parts of the map to see stuff like a Ubisoft game.

Graphics are decent (to me, I'm playing maxed out on the PC :yeshrug:) and the whole 30 fps "issue" don't bug me, I played on consoles for years before I got a gaming rig. You can't customize cars yet, that is going to be free DLC along with outfits for Lincoln.

THE SOUNDTRACK :blessed:

I could go on man.

I feel better playing this than GTA V.

You would have to define "unnecessary"

When is it necessary at all? :jbhmm:

It's almost always overused by the wrong people :jbhmm:

But to answer your question, story wise I've heard it I think four times by major characters.

Once from a black man, three times from white dudes.

Gameplay wise :mjlol:

You start off fighting the rednecks. They said it a lot less than I would have guessed :skip:

But expect "Get that ******" "Is that ****** magic?!" "How are we getting murdered by one c00n?!" "fukk them greaseballs and them c00ns!"

It's not every other sentence or word. I don't even react anymore. Usually because I'm in enemy territory and he is dead anyway.

Had to cancel my Amazon order because it's delayed :francis:...just going to have to go straight to the store and cop after work.

Rather unhappy with that since I got the prime price for the Deluxe and Season Pass in one bundle.

Of course it's never been "necessary" but to use it in context and as a means to advance a story, I can roll with it. Overused (like you said) is a better term. I like stealth games like this, but I don't need to give my money to anybody that overuses the word, when there are so many other options out there. From your reviews it sounds like a pretty well rounded title though. Thanks.
