Mad Men: Season 7 (Part 2) 'The End of an Era' - April 5th

is this the beginning of a new Don? He's now given up everything over the course of this half season, episode-by-episode he's lost something. Now he gives up his car and all he has is the clothes on his back. There's still the prospect of being found out who he really is thats haunting him and will always haunt him but has he now just accepted that after his 'moment' round the table with the other Vets.

That opening scene too and also the hitchhiker was just another red herring from the previous episode.

Pete CampbelL finally on his way to a W? Getting his life back and doing probably what Don would've loved to have done given the chance. You can't help but think it's not going to finish up so happy after all though.


and now Betty

An episode of TV hasn't made me so emotional as this did in a long time and after all of the news, Betty was still being her vain self. Brushing her hair in the mirror and giving Sally the instructions to make her look good when she's finally dead

Roger - think they still need to provide the viewers a bit more closure; as aloof as the character is, his last scene cannot be him convincing Joan to give up

I kind of hope Roger's daughter factors into the last episode. Some closure with that.

I was hoping Peggy and Don would have a much better ending or some sort of existential moment in their last interaction (e.g. the dance they shared last season). They've been through so much together and outside of Sally, Peggy's the only who sees through Don's shyt.

But then I realized they basically used the same circle imagery for Peggy at her happiest ... so I guess this is a "happy ending".

They had her pushing that Honda Scooter in a circle and now the roller skate circles

I get that woman had no chance in this era ... Joan had to be sexually harassed / pushed out and Peggy had to be marginalized ... but Peggy deserved better than to be some copyright supervisor ... she was Don's ghostwriter ... and for the right price she could make yo shyt hotter.

easy cuz.. peggs swagger the last episode walking into mccan with a cig hangin off her lips was extraordinary she was THE coolest n*gga in that building...

think about where she started in this series.... a super insecure secretary

damn Betty, she's not a character i would have picked that was going to die...who would have thought Don would outlive the broads he fukked ?
considering her ups and downs it took Betty having that big reveal for people to finally care about her..was a good send off for her though.

Henry's a fukkboy.

on one hand i hope thats a happy ending for Pete (and maybe the only real happy one, which would be typical that the rich kid gets it)
but on the other hand i'm ready to laugh when he takes that final "L"

was that Roy from The Office that was one of the vets ?..Don's arc in the episode felt a bit David Lynch-esque in parts.

next week and we have no real idea about whats going to happen to Don.

I'm getting far too emotional about this show ending

Like where do we go from here? In terms of character development, layering of story and authenticity, everything is a step down. Game of Thrones is class but it's not seeing Mad Men at all.

With just the finale to go, I think Mad Men is the GOAT.

There's a lot of talk about the finale being totally centred on Don, with his story the only story seemingly not sewn up and finished.

I hope he somehow finds out about Betty. It would be fitting to have him return to Betty and the kids after everything he's been through, the number of women etc.

Don needed those GIs to get rid of that burden of Korea. All the vets came back home changed men somehow. It was the first time I saw the burden of being Don fall off his shoulders.

Do you remember in a couple of episodes ago that the head hunter told her that McCann was the best job for her at the moment? You have to know that this was the 70's and women wasn't getting those high level jobs that she had at Sterling and Cooper. She has to prove herself over there before finding another gig at a another company.
