Finally able to watch the first two episodes of the season. I was going on a marathon of the whole series again before watching. Doing that definitely helped me remember a lot of the relationships and reoccuring characters that popped up at different times. Loved the first episode and was lukewarm over the second one. Just too much Megan and her family that seemed unnecessary. She just ain't a character I give enough of a fukk about to get this much time spent on her. I do though understand how she can be so bitter at Don. He showed over and over that the job was his true love. Had her quit her job on the soap (I really don't think they had her get a job after) only to not move, him not flying out there much, when he hears about Stephanie (anna's niece) he's ready to drop everything and visit, after getting the threesome he cuts the visit short when he hears about the cigarette meeting (they had Megan being jealous of Stephanie and probably viewing Don leaving early because Stephanie wasn't there), lying about not having a job for months, and then only considering to move with her once he thinks he's no longer going to be able to come back to the company.

Don't get me wrong she's acting like an entitled bytch considering without Don she wouldn't have been able to quit her job and pursue her dreams but at the same time I see how she could be a bit bitter.

I think this season is ultimately going to be about just how reckless Don has lived and all the people that he's burned in the process ad ultimately him trying to do right by those he's wronged. I think there's no way the season ends without either Don dying or Roger dying and Don using that to get his life right.

Both grew up in whore houses.

Left having little emotional connection to women as a result....seeing sex as nothing more than a woman providing a momentary service for his selfish needs.

Both have seen their fair share of divorces

Both have a abuse problems. Don's liver wants to fall out....

Reminds me that Don is always paying women off..paid Megan that milli, first interacted with Diane because she thought the $100 tip was from him, threw that money at Peggy, wrote Midge a check when he left her, etc.. even the signal from the broad downstairs that her husband was gone was a penny under the doormat

I feel you on that, but for some reason I still have zero empathy for her. Zero.

t-dot till they bury me
im wondering which character is going to get the "better caul saul" treatment.

my vote is on peggy
Peggy prequel would be :scusthov: imo

We've seen her grow from a sheltered, naive girl to what she is now. I'd rather see a continuation of Peggy's story.

Don't know if any character is worth the prequel.

I'd love to see more early agency Don/Roger days. That one episode where they flashbacked to how Don hustled his way into the agency was :whew::wow::whoo:

i forgot saul was a prequel. i was envisioning more of a sequel where we see peggy go maybe from the late 70s to the late 80s. it could jump forward a few years from mad men where peggy is about to become an actual partner in a firm or something.

I can't lie. I don't hate that idea.

There was a series pitched to AMC about Sally Draper growing up in disco era late 70's in Manhattan..It had gotten the green light for a pilot but Mathew Weiner declined at the last minute..

I did want to see a spin off with Dawn (his Black secretary) trying to climb the corporate ladder as a Black female in the 70's/80's...I think if it was cast properly there was some good sh1t there.. Harlem in the 70's has so many untold stories..
