Think of it as one day pay for a 2Chainz feature (which aint cheap now) and go in the booth and record a song u think might give you some momentum:cook:.

Then turn on the radio a few weeks later and hear the song but with all ur verses gone...

:why:

wasbt no few weeks later, was like a year later and he had no buzz...

lets not act like the only reason this dude is getting sued isnt because he's wack. Joey badass used a finesse beat and i dont see him getting sued. finesse and this generic grocery store brand washed out dude probably heard mac miller and :scusthov:at that terrible shyt.

i thought hip-hop had a hidden rules of suing other hip-hop artists...

also, alot of hip-hop labels go to great lenght to clear samples...

its not common though

my initial reasoning was race also..

just seeing the comments about mac's race

also, rappers/labels go through great lengths to clear samples...
sometimes a sample may not clear and the song is released...
a lot of times the case gets settled out of court

rapper dont sue rappers is just not common

So coli is dumb-downed SOHH now huh? We used to have lengthy analytical discussions on topics like this. Now we have short paragraphs from posters that definitely didn't read the article. I feel ashamed.

Both lawsuits clearly doesn't only cover the recording of the song. It has to do with all the publicity, advertisement, concert revenue, usage of recording in commercials, etc that Miller has benefited from. This will not change the mixtape scene since it doesn't involve the actual recording of the song. Will songs stop being posted on youtube? Maybe. Will sites like datpiff stop their membership section? Probably. Will we stop getting original beats on mixtapes? NO. Will artists stop making mixtapes? Definitely not.

Also, if Miller put the producers name in the description that will make them entitled to receive a portion of the royalty and all other financial gains from the song. That is why Miller didn't put their name in there.

Stop overhyping bullshyt and start reading, this is getting ridiculous.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
dog, if they get away with this which they wont, nikkas can take Lupe Fiasco to court and sue him for his entire Freedom aint Free tape. Spitta too. shyt, especially spitta. they can take this nikkas entire catalog and run his pockets.

like come on, this shyt is silly as fukk. Dudes will come outta the woodwork suing every artist that's made a mixtape. J. Cole, Meek Mill....literally every rapper with a mixtape.

Jay-Z and Nas the only ones who safe :cape:

shyt they can come and get me... i'm not supporting this shyt at all.. i feel like the last ruling is the reason why only super producers even use samples anymore. i was just saying what they hope to accomplish and what could likely happen if they win all the appeals too

if either side loses, they can appeal to a higher court.. it goes higher and higher till the state supreme court rules on it.. even the federal supreme court rules on it (highly doubt they'd care), then its pretty much law. but even if they don't get involved, the last ruling is always the one that stands and sets rules for ALL future cases of the same nature

so lets say miller loses this case.. you think all these labels who basically own their artist, are gonna let them keep putting out songs with other's beats??

what's the next man gonna do?? record and give it away but never perform it, do any ads, put it on any site that gets money, not receive any pub or attention from it?? what's the point of doing the song then

of course people gonna still do it. people been sued for 100k + for downloading music on the internet.. and the RIAA WON!!! and guess what.. 30 million people will be downloading movies and music tonight.

that don't mean everyone else will be in a rush to catch another case. especially if you're big time and you KNOW that mixtape is gonna generate huge publicity and all that comes with it.

you can't have one (mixtape) without the other (exposure) because that's what the hell you made the mixtape for in the first place
