The same Kennedy who was knuckle dragging racial progress and who’s own brother couldn’t guarantee Lorraine Hansberry he could make a moral commitment to civil rights?
you are correct that RFK really was the driving force but i mean JFK was a politician so he wanted to get reelected hard to say how he would of went about it exactly

LBJ really gave zero fuxks tho after his death he knew he had no desire to run for president again

Where we differ is that I don't have a problem with Hispanics having civil rights too.

In fact I prefer it :dahell:

What do I look like hoping that other races face the same type of discrimination that we had to face? :dahell:

So you don't feel that it's wrong, you just want to be a part of the protected class. Nah that don't work for me. I want justice for black people but justice for us doesn't mean that everybody else can't have justice too.
:snoop: okay... But there are laws specific to other demographics. But when the law is supposed to protect black people, suddenly it's equal rights for everybody.

Worth noting that Lincoln only freed slaves in the rebelling states (which he didn't have control of whatsoever ) and he was cool with enslaved people keeping their status in the union states (which he had complete control of).

It would be like a modern day American president deciding that the American poor should get resources, but allocating the wealth of Canada or Sweden to the American poor .

Luck was on his side.Had the war been a stalemate or a loss, then both the north and the south would've been enslaving folks until the 1900s.
Also freeing slaves wasn't some noble act he had in his mind. If the Southern states didn't pop shyt and threaten to secede slavery would've kept on churning probably past WW2.

The Civil Rights Act did more for Nigerian Americans, such as yourself.

Many of these policies are still anti-black and coded in ways that oppress Black Americans.

Look into CRT before speaking so openly about a racist CAC who cared more about his political career than anything remotely related to black people.
Shut the fukk up.

Passed the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968

Passed the Voting Rights of 1965

Created Medicaid and Medicare

Established Affirmative Action as policy

Declared war on poverty and passed the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and Elementary and Higher Education Acts of 1965

Passed the Immigration Act of 1965, which allowed millions of Black immigrants to come into the country. My family wouldn't have been able to come to America from Nigeria without this law

Put Thurgood Marshall in the Supreme Court

It seems like LBJ done the most for brehs and his legacy continue on to this day

the state of black america hasn’t advanced in any qualitative manner since the passage of those bills; many would argue we’ve regressed.

Idk, I'm literally sitting in a lunch hall at my high-five-figure job right now next to a plethora of different ethnicities, and I'm not being side-eyed, refused service, physically assaulted or being dragged out just for being a Black man...:manny:

Not saying it's enough but it's objectively better than how it was in the 60's. Be realistic breh.

Civil rights acts installed more handicap ramps than saved black lives, in effect and spirit.

You're thinking of the Americans with Disabilities Act, passed under HW Bush. :snoop:

None of y'all nïggas took Poli Sci 1000?? :why:
