Hol up. Stop listening to T&Y right now and go embark on the grand adventure that is Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor.

And Nas' top 3 has Lupe's top 3 beat
I'll listen to it one day, when it's right.
:dwillhuh:

Uh....no. If Lupe Fiasco was out in the 90's "The Cool" would probably be Common Sense's "Resurrection"....or Ras Kass "Soul On Ice"....an underground gem in hindsight that most people slept on.

In 1994 it wasn't about who could spit the most rappity rap lyrical abstract shyt. To put it into perspective Outkast, "The Chronic", BONE, Wu, BIG and Snoop were running shyt around that time. This is gonna piss off his fans but Lupe would be a foot note in 1994.

Fred.
Illmatic itself was a foot note in 1994, nikkas went back like a year and later and looked back like "OH shyt HOW WE MISS THIS shyt?!??! GREATEST ALBUM EVER" or something like that

Just listened to the album all the way through. this might be better than food and liquor. its straight piff. smooth beats and complex rhymes. Lupe :wow: Even if no one recognizes it, I think he made an album that was true to himself. No radio bangers just good shyt.

Not to get off track but I hope Wale follows suit and makes an album true to himself.

Just listened. I love this album. Lupe is back brehs. The whole entire album is dumb it down with layers upon layers of concepts I'm still tryna figure out. And that's not a bad thing. If u don't like the puzzles put the game back in the box. Play something more simplistic.

The production Is so crisp the hooks are out of this world. Lupe got so many hidden messages on tracks alluding to secret societies, deflated money, and power running the world. With us as blacks and the roles we choose/ or just forced to play in this puzzle called reality. How our moods change as the seasons go by. How it reflects on children and society as a whole. The seasonal interludes determines how at risk u are for living. Or if u even enjoy life while being forced to live in peace/choas. That's what I'm getting out of it so far. That's off first listen.

I like how he still has his message but it can be interpreted in so many ways. He's scratching the surface with a paint brush. But using faded colors so u can figured it out on your own. Instead of coming off preachy. Great album love every track except for the banjos. Lol. Gonna edit them out.

Uh....nah. shyt was on everyone's radar for years due to Nas's verse off "Live At The BBQ" and then shyt like "Half Time" leading up to the album. His debut was heavily anticipated, to the point that some people in retrospect cry east coast bias.

Lupe would have a following in the 90's but he'd most likely be Lyricist Lounge status. I doubt he would even be as popular as he is now....the same goes for someone like Kanye, or Kendrick Lamar. They started at basically the perfect time for what they have to offer artistically.
