Theory made by poster CT on kanyetothe

"Backwards, the first 5 tracks up to Deliver can be seen as a character reincarnated and then dying. Chopper, which starts out "Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, Lupe Fiasco" can be seen as the first character being reincarnated again - this time he is a rapper known as Lupe Fiasco. Lupe has taken a similar route to the first character. He's never been no trouble, but he is surrounded by the same dark environment and people (Drug dealers, etc). He's in a dark time in his life. No Scratches also plays into this mood. In Body of Work, he begins to question "Have I been this?" and "Realize my begin when I find where my end is" This is where he realizes his future is somebody else's past. He begins to realize he's been reincarnated. Upon this realization he attempts to change, but he wonders in Prisoners "Or will the new lane lead em to the same pen" and later "they sell their souls, they sell themselves". In the remainder of the album, there is a much happier tone, as if Lupe has started to break the cycle of reincarnation (samsara). Dots & Lines has Lupe spreading positivity and attempting to break others out of this cycle by telling them "Don't sign" be your own person, recognize the cycles of the world (circles, 2nd verse), to love unconditionally, and the other enlightenment lines (soul/gold/etc). In Blur My Hands, Lupe essentially turns hate into love (chorus). This turning hate into love is the last step Lupe needed.

In Mural, Lupe defeats samsara and reaches enlightenment (-insert entire song here-)
"Defeat Samsara achieves nirvana and brilliance"

So then the album ends on Summer, which is the most peaceful of interludes. Nirvana

Edit: To clarify my first sentence, Spring is the character (i'm not going to say MYH but you can if you want) coming back to life. TRON is also a song of reincarnation. Adoration of the Magi is the first song we see of the character going down the wrong path. Being arrogant "you're sooo smart" "washing down the ham with the zam zam" living reckless "why you ready to die, you just a baby" and how this path is pointless "Just to be back in, reincarnated exact twin". In Madonna, the character dies at the end. There's a hint that he tried to change his life (tried to go to church, church aint work), but not too much (Lupe Fiasco, the character, also realizes this faith is pointless in no scratches. "It's hopeless nikka get real" ) Deliver is the character, right before being reincarnated, reflecting on his life and wondering about his circumstances. "I always wondered where the ghetto from". Other key lines in Deliver would be

"Can I get delivered from the sin?
Get a little slice of Heaven, I can enter in again"

and "Make a savior out of savage like they made it out of magic"

A savior out of savage is essentially what is made in the 2nd half of the album as I described above."

:wow: That theory makes an adsurd amount of sense.

Shoutout to the man CT for proposing that theory

shyt is ridiculous :wow: I also recall Lupe posting the track list upside down & it resembled a cross. Which explains the heavy religious theme throughout the album

he's no scared breh, lupe even said eminem scares him, but i think thats just him being a fan
when did Lupe say that? I remember him saying he wont do tracks with some people cause of how they are. i.e em has rapped bad about his own mother and talks grimey about everybody, and Lupe doesnt respect that.

otherwise Lupe has no reason to be scared to rap with em unless he's scared eminem might actually kill him after Lupe murders him on a track

"Words and lines of mine I feel are better than every rap in the world combined" - :lupe:

He said he doesnt want to hop on a track with Duckworth because sometimes you just want to be a fan and after you see how some people work it takes some of the fandom out of it. Think how hard it is for Lu to be a fan of a dude... I mean he was a fan of Jay then proceeded to slaughter him on the track. He prolly learned a valuable lesson that day.

blur my hands, chopper, and adoration of the magi are weak to me. not a big fan of deliver either (the hook is horrendous).

Everything else is solid.

Has anyone tried this album in reverse? Folks over on KTT are saying it works just as well, maybe even better.

I keep trying. Every time I fire up the album and begin at "Spring" my itunes won't play them. How are y'all getting it to work? :ohhh:

:mindblown::mindblown::mindblown:

As stupid as it seems on the surface, there is something there. Whole album seems to make more sense.

The last lines on mural definitely make a lot of sense as the end. Much more fitting to achieve liberation at the end. You keep getting reincarnated on the last song until you play it backwards. TRON makes obvious sense as a first song and the sequence from to magi and madonna makes sense. Chopper after deliver makes more sense too. Chopper is basically what's described in the hook from deliver as its own song... "Too many nikkas"... explains why its so long with so many features and the content of the song. I think going from Body of Work to Prisoner makes more sense too. "Anatomy (skin) will be the death of me" which leads to prison. Color of the characters skin leads to prison. "When you're rehabilitated so correctly And let's hope that's how you're living when you're set free" so after prison that happens he's smarter and able to embody the sacred geometry and rise above it all in Blur My Hands and achieves liberation in Mural.

Having listened to it backwards it flows just as well, maybe better.
