Lupe Fiasco says F&LII is NOT a true sequel to F&L, it was "marketing" move

Eh, his fans should care that he is fukking lying to them to build a buzz.
Cause Lupe been :troll::skip: :ing so damn much, people are basically like "who cares?" to all the bullshyt he preaches. What if Nas said Life Is Good was Illmatic 2 and a month after dropping the first singles, he turns out and says I LIED :flabbynsick: It was a marketing trick suckers :steviej::takedat::lawd::umad: .

That shyt wouldn't fly, it's highly disrespectful to your fans.

Nas jerks his fans all the time whenever he starts working on an album. Everytime he mentions an album dropping or in the studio it always starts off with

"Imma have DJ Premier produce a bulk of the album."

"Me and AZ are gonna have a track on there."

Then the tracklist comes out, no AZ. No Premo. Just fat ass Salaam Remi all over the place.

Why make a sequel to Food & Liquor now? What was your thought process behind creating a Part Two?
What are you interested in trying to figure out, beyond that? I don't really look into it that deeply. I think people might be overthinking it. It wasn't that much of a decision either way, like, "Oh, we're going to take people back to the first album," or, "Oh, I'm going to take advantage of people relating it to the first album." It wasn't that serious. I guess it's serious enough for people to ask questions about it, but maybe you should answer it for yourself, too. Not to be a jerk about it, but specifically for that one thing, it's not that deep. It's just Food & Liquor 2.

Nas has NEVER done this. Not once has he said straight up 100% that Premo
Was producing the bulk of an album. He said he'd LIKE for it to happen eventually, and he never confirmed AZ for the album either...

Lupe Fiasco is an artist, if you truly followed him as a fan then you'd realize that like Nas, redundancy doesn't inspire him. Whoever heard the title F&L2 and honestly thought you'd be getting a "sequel" title first album is retarded. First off, albums such as F&L weren't concept albums, they followed a LOOSE theme of personal moral code that Lupe coined himself. What you thought he was gonna be baking songs Sunshine 2, Daydreaming 2, Emperors Soundtrack 2, etc? That doesn't make ANY sense for one. And for two as a FAN of Lupe we'd realize he wouldn't truly even attempt that. F&L2 is a return to the loose moral concept he tackled in the first album except with America as the greater overall unifying concept, this isn't "jerking" the fans around or being misleading. It's a simple testament to what he feels like rapping about at this particular time

I don't understand why this thread has even been created? Oh so Lupe actually told you the reason behind him calling his album F&LII and you didn't like his answer because he didn't give a poetic breakdown of the last 7 years changing his life and how he had to make a sequal to his first album, because Aliens zapped his brain and swaggidy swag swag dopeness started being written from his pen to his pad. That's not the nature of Lupe as an Artist, he's always told you how it is - I'm really sorry breh breh :youngsabo:

Every fukking sequel is a marketing move you idiot, what the fukk else is it going to be?

What would you have liked him to have said? That's what you should be asking yourself. Stop masking your hate by airing about the obvious and adding your demonic red mist to it. :ld:

I'm not even of the mindset that believes Lupe's screwing his fans over. I'm not one who determines whether an album's gonna be hot or not over what he calls his albums. I think that shyt is corny. I think basing shyt off a tracklist is corny. I think getting it off of an album cover is corny.

the lack of comprehension and common sense in this thread is astounding. Lupe said that after playing records for ppl they immediately assumed it was a sequel because the sound of the album was very similar to his debut, the listeners basically guided him to add Food and Liquor Part II to the full album title because of the vibe they got. He has always called this album"The Great American Rap Album", I remember a few years ago when that title first popped up.

There has never been any misdirection or false advertising. the music is similar to the OG Food & Liquor, Lupe just never figured to use that as part of teh title till everyone who heard the album brought it up with him.

It doesn't take a genius to comprehend that from the quote. Ziggiy gets it, wtf happen to the rest of yall brains?

WAKE UP CALL:

Food & Liquor is a corny album.

SUNSIIIINE!!!!!! MOOOONLIGHT!!!!!!!!
