unpopular oppinion

I still like Lupe, but after he announced that he developed an new AI software that finds the correlation between word and subjects I have a hard time appreciating his complex writing

Part of the Lupe mythos was him creating incredible word play layered through triple meanings out of thin air.

I played around the his app, and as a writer it’s extremely helpful, but at the same tim I personally don’t like using anything past a dictionary and thesaurus.

If my brain couldn’t connect the dot, it’s not my voice

His app is like a highly sophisticated “RhymeZone”

It’s still a dope album
I'm probably gonna feel differently later, but this is basically my initial reaction. I don't think it's unpopular, but kinda unwarranted because this is the thread.

But Lu always marinates. Let it settle.

I feel this is dope. Laid back beats, sing songy hooks, with his usual high end lyricism. What seperated Lupe from some other super lyrical rappers was he song crafting ability. Nowadays Lupe ain't tryna impress anyone just make music, I appreciate it.

Definitely enjoyed this project - don't feel as if there are as many stand-out tracks though -

On my third or fourth listen of this

I think Palaces is up there with his best. That 3rd verse is verse of the year contender.

This album is fukking ridiculous

Gets better with every listen.

I feel it clears Drill Music in Zion. Ms. Mural is probably my favorite song of the last 5 years, but this album overall is better from start to finish.

T&Y, TC and DW are his top 3 IMO, but after those this is in competition with any other album he dropped to me.

Soundtrakk really did his thing on the production. And this might be the best he's ever rapped.

PS: I understand why someone wouldn't be into the tone and beat selection though. While I think it's CRAZY to say the beats aren't good, they are smooth and chill, and Lu himself is laid back throughout the entire album. It's like a sniper or a gun with a silencer efficiently picking targets apart with no wasted bullets. I can't faut folks for wanting Lupe more aggressive though, like a bazooka, especially when when he had this exact same approach tone/beat wise his last album.

So I definitely agree for the next one I'd like a tonal shift back to T&Y and DW sonically, but this joint is still amazing.
this album is so much better than drill music in zion

i wasn't expecting much at all
