Lupe getting insecure cause his raps being exposed for having little imagination. Most of his shyt is complicated just for the sake of it. Kendrick is MUCH better at painting pictures with his words. That's why in a one vs one battle. Song vs song. I'm 99% positive Kendrick would annihilate him. Cause while Lupe will be using a bunch of meaningless wordplay to flip Kendricks album titles, Kendrick will be systematically destroying his whole career while making it sound fire.
Lupe just doesn't have much depth as an artist beyond clever wordplay. Even his stories are forgettable because he's trying to be too detailed on shyt that doesn't matter. But his stans will pretend he's just too genius for everybody.

It’s annoying when these people try to act like their way of making music is the only way. Check your accolades, sales, and reviews. There’s a million different ways of making great music, you are not trying to build an ikea thing. Then you have these brain dead stans saying “how can you argue with him” like they can’t think for themselves. Joe Budden is one of them, when he calls people rap scientist, implying that it’s science and not art. Further implying that he makes formulaic music not creative.

I can def understand Lupe not being everyone's cup of tea, especially modern day Lupe. But having little imagination? Nah that part I can't agree with. You don't make songs like Mural and Ms. Mural if you lack creativity.
