if im playing still, sure, i want a taste of a title. if i end up not getting one, and sit and reflect on my career when its over, id much rather be a shoo-in to be enshrined in the hall than win a ring

thats not a good argument though... like i completely understand him saying that now... but to me it comes off as the dude who hollered at the hot chick, got rejected and is like "I wanted the other hot chick instead"... im curious to see what he would say had he won a ring...

i dont want to completely diminish the HOF, and like i said, i understand if it IS important to him, but how come no one discusses the fact that the HOF in a bit arbitrary and out of the players hand... in the context of 2 great players, id rather get something i contributed to greatly and earned through my work than leaving it in the hands of 44 guys ive probably never met...

He's reflecting on his career. If he was a super bowl winner minus HOF credentials, I think he'd rather be an athlete that he was in college and in HS where he was head and shoulders above his peers and remembered in history for it.

Screw the nature of the HOF. the TEAM of a marginally talented player winning a ring will be remembered more than the player himself. A HOF PLAYER is remembered more than a marginally talented player with a ring.

Getting respect from your peers as being one of the best ever means much more than a team ring.

Bullshyt...his TEAM has a legacy, not him.

Yeah and LT's team helped him get to hall of fame status....yet LT rode the bench in crunch time in the playoffs. Dude probably sleeps in the other room with his visor on when he falls out with his wife. He was a great RB but strikes me as bytch made.

As a player entering the league, it's much more likely that you win a super bowl ring than be inducted into the hall of fame.

Being recognized as one of the greatest ever >>>>>> just being great, ring or not.

I can careless about your corny boston based feelings on a guys make up you don't know. But if you now are going to diminish LTs greatness as akin to Brushi legacy tied to his teamates ur a lame who just doesn't want to get it.

I think people are gonna say LT is just saying that because he didn't win shyt, but let's be real, ya'll don't agree?

So many factors go into a SB team besides just ONE great running back...one great player period. Going into the hall of fame is a legacy sealer. You may have never won shyt, but EVERYBODY knows you're a bad mother fukker.

You wanna be Dan Marino or Trent Dilfer? Lmao. I mean I'm a Ravens fan and Dilfer is my nikka, but LEZZ BEE HAWNEST here.

If you're not THAT dude on your SB winning team, nobody gonna remember your ass like that.

The truth is every great player wants both and it's a tough choice, but I'm sure most will go with hall of fame recognition. You can be an average player and still win a ring if you're in the right situation, but you can only get into the HOF if you a bad mother fukker.

This is a weird debate.

1. Cats really arguing that LT should FEEL differently?
:what:

He never won a title so the HOF is his professional peak. Would be interesting to hear his take if he had actually won a title.

What do his feelings on winning a championship have to do with anybody else at this point, considering he's no longer playing? I could see if he just signed to a team and was like, "All I care about is padding my stats for the Hall, I don't care if we win 2 games.":yeshrug:

As long as he gave his all to the team while he was playing who cares what he values more once he's retired.

LT is great no doubt. But without a ring I fully expect him to say he'd rather be in canton. Naturally! I think it will eat at him a little that he didn't get a ring as well but dude was nice at his peak.

noooooo

its only gonna eat at him when he runs into fans like you who say "but you have no ring"....after while shyts just gonna irritate him, but he seriously is content with his life. He's happy.

the thing is...some players by nature want a ring over anything else. or at least that's how I see it :manny:

I guess different strokes for different folks. when I was playing sports-any kind of sports- my goal was to win the game/tournament, not dominate the tournament...its the kind of thing you hear players say- even though half time its prolly not honest- that theyd sacrifice their individual stats just so the team can win.

so reflecting back its a bit easier to say that as it is reflective of your career....so you have a point.

but personally if I was a pro athlete (and I know Im not...thats not the point) Id rather have won a ring than "be remembered" in hof :manny:. especially if I was considered a pretty decent player and my team will remember me.

obviously if the choice is between being a scrub getting a ring and hoF career without one, its an easy choice.
but its also a pretty contrived one. if LT could be a borderline HoF back AND have won a ring...I do think he'd hesitate when answering.

another one, like Ive said, case in point: frank gore.

again, its just my opinion.

You think LT DIDNT want that WHILE he was playing? :what:

Ok...once you've answered that, then why aren't you being in a player's shoes whose career is over, doesn't have a ring and is comparing having one to being in the HOF?
