Kool Herc is Jamaican.

He did a little bit more than just participate in the creation of Hip Hop. Dude is the founder.
Wrong. Herc saw what Pete DJ Jones, Disco King Mario and DJ Flowers (all FBA) were doing and did his version. He didn't start juggling breaks until 75, he had one turntable. His fame was from knowing the right people and location. He invented NOTHING.
First. Bro is like 70.

Born and raised back in Jamaica. Official official.
WRONG. Herc came to America at 12, got clowned for his accent, style, dress, etc., and assimilated into FBA culture. When he started DJing, he tried playing Jamaican music and got clowned again.

Again. There's a difference between creating something and participating and contributing to it. Puerto Ricans didn't create hip hop. Hip hop was created by blacks. But they did participate and contribute to it. And like I said. That doesn't diminish their contributions. Damn near all forms of modern American music. Started as black music.
the issue here is latinos tryin to seperate themselves

this sort of talkin point circumvents actually documented historians and figures who pioneered the sound like nile rodgers

carib is black therefore ricans started hiphop too cuz they are black

ther never wasnt a time where ricans and other latinos specifically carib, central and south americans wasnt around

How is it wrong that he was born and raised in Jamaica? He was.

Herc was flipping breaks in '73, not '75, bro. That's why Hip Hop's birth is acknowledged as 1973. Making it 50 last year. Not a year from now.

James Brown's music being used for breaks and having the b-boys get busy to that was started by Herc. There were mad DJ's before Herc. Of course. But what they were doing wasn't Hip Hop. The birth of Hip Hop culture and what a lot of us saw growing up, started with Kool Herc. Dude even came up with the names of what we call breakers. Dude created the rhyming style of Hip Hop and the phrases everyone used like "Ya don’t stop" and "To the beat, y'all". All of that started with him.

Dudes really try'na rewrite history out here. Madness.

:what:

They was around but they damn sure ain't consider themselves black. Puerto Ricans are a mix race. There's some that aren't black at all and there's some that are mostly black. Alot of the younger ones had to sneak and fukk wit us when it came to the hip hop shyt because some of they parents wasn't fukkin wit black people like that. This is well documented. Regardless. Like I said. This shyt was created by blacks and participated in and contributed to by others. And that's fine. It's not a diss. It's the truth.

We thank him and the Peurto Ricans. Hiphop wasnt a black genre starting out,it became a black genre later on. So we thank those who created that "a hiphop,a hibby to the hibby to the hiphiphop" music. But hiphop became a black genre later on and it has been ever since.

Blacks created rock n roll, but its not black music is it? Who created it deserves credit, but hiphop has been overwhelmingly dominated by black americans for a long time. I wont say who created it doesnt matter, but its a footnote based on where it went and who dominated and contributed the most.

Depending on where u were in the city shyt was separated. Manhattan DJs n shyt was still on the Disco shyt. Hip hop's history is way more complicated than portrayed. There's alot to it. Like when people try to say Hip hop originated in Jamaica. Hip hop started HERE and was rooted in American black music. Herc being Jamaican doesn't change that. But when people try to say Jamaicans wasnt there from jump is a lie as well. Jamaican Americans def was there from the jump. Herc being one of em. People confusing and conflating history be getting this shyt all twisted.
