People in here defending Lord Finesse just gonna ignore this though? I don't care if you don't like Mac Miller because I personally hate him but you can't deny how big of a bytch move this is

the difference is that is a real "mixtape" track

that's the thing. these modern "mixtapes" aren't mixtapes at all. there's not even a DJ involved. it's just a promotional album. like I said, at some point it just becomes something else

so why do they release instrumentals then?? you nikkas are clueless

lord finesse is starving for some money...i can go on youtube right now and see thousands of rap videos shot by unknown dudes using other peoples beats...but the producers dont care until the ONE actually gets some people interested..

thats because those bum ass rappers aren't making $10,000 a show to perform those songs ::leostare:

Frank Ocean was performing this at concerts tho

I aint never been to a Mac Miller concert but Im pretty sure he is/was performing this at his concerts as well. The song has 23 million views on youtube. On top of that youtube pays out about 1000 per 1million views on their site so at the very least LF may gripe about getting a cut of that, if indeed mac is getting paid from that

Mac Miller dont have money like that. He'll settle out of court for some change. All in al dudes dont sue because they dont feel like it. If they dont like the nikka they will sue.

I might have to disagree with u on that...he has been on numerous tours and all the pics of his shows that i've seen online look like justin bieber concerts

Thats why i said i understand both sides....

You can't really choose a hardline on this issue because both sides is fukked up.

Yea Im with you. Im torn in this situation as well. But a part of me, although its hypocritical as a muhfukka, (cause I produce) is leaning with LF on this one. especially since like has already been said Mac made and promoted it (youtube) as an entirely new song

Since when were mixtapes NOT used to promote an artist? What else would they be for? An album is something that you pay money for, which is not what Macs MIXTAPE was. You just sound like you don't like Mac Miller therefore are defending this bytch move

They are going to have to prove damages and since so few people in the grand scheme of things are Mac Miller fans, let alone people who even knew he rapped over this beat prior to the lawsuit, I don't see why they tossed out 10 million but okay.

Jay-z can sample Tupac who hated him. He sampled Nas who didn't like him. Should he get sued for disrespecting them? So anytime a rapper rhymes over another rappers beat, it needs to be okay'd for being 'respectful' or 'disrespectful' ? Is it possible Mac Miller really likes his music/beat?

No we just suin wack nikkas, its only right:russ:...didn't this chump sample Thugz Mansion too? Remember them producers tryna smack mac miller cuz he wouldn't give them credit for a beat they did?and that's all they wanted but his people didn't do it

thats my point...as i stated at the end of my thread...so once that artist gets a buzz, they have to pay the artist whose beat they used?? but its all good at first?? these hip hop nikkas is jokes

Finesse is an idiot, and all you clowns co-signing him are idiots. We know Finesse had the better song but suing over a free mixtape song is :snoop:

plus if he wins this is gonna pave the way for everybody to sue artists for using their beats on mixtape. shyt is gonna kill the mixtape game, is that what ya'll want?

What, you got your crack dealers trying to collect? IRS on your back? Someone threaten to break your legs? What is it that could have possibly made you think this had any chance of going down?

lord finesse was never ever rumored to be a crack head. The fukk are you talking about? also, let's be honest. if nikkas can make money off suing rappers for sampling their shyt on albums, there's no reason a producer (and artist) shouldn't be able to sue an artist for capitalizing off his work. he's using a beat that finesse put his heart into, all for the purpose of aiding the mac miller movement. this just doesn't apply to miller, though. it casts an eye of judgment towards ALL mixtape rappers who aren't using original beats. just cuz the tape is "free" doesn't mean you're not using it for commercial purposes.
