I don't fukk with MIller at all. Was the song available to buy or on an album? Or available today on itunes etc..?

It was a free tape.

Eh, if I'm Mac I'm not settling for shyt.

If he settles that opens him up to pay every other producers whose beats he spit over on a free tape.

it means this is about the trend of newjacks reusing old beats, and giving the og's nothing for it. it's not about this one song. this could set a precedent

I understand both sides....

Eventhough Mac put that track on a free mixtape, he shot a video for it & made a good grip of money performing that song at his shows. Every rapper does it now but, its setting an ugly precedent. Dudes can just snatch some old track, go around getting any clearances by putting it out for free, than :lolbron: on the backend when they tour. Then when the old heads call them out on it, they all :leon: "I was just paying homage"

Damn 10 mil???
Whoever made that amilli beat bout to eat good forever if he wins and sets a precedent.

this disgruntled nikka really think he is going to get 10 mill because he used a beat on a mixtape :russ:

In the incredibly unlikely event that Finesse actually gets what he wants from this lawsuit (and in the more likely event that he gets nominal damages) this could set a precedent that would stop rappers from using classic beats. It's not as big a deal as it used to be, because mixtapes are much closer to albums than they used to be, but it will still have big repercussions for the way we listen to music.

Those of yall who think Lord Finesse is going to easily lose this case must not know about the ongoing copyright dispute going on in music right now. Frank Ocean also got a cease and desist from Warner music for his rendition of a 'The Eagles' track. At the very least they made it so he cant perform the song anymore.

Those of you who are saying its setting a precedent, ya damn right it is.
But real talk this is hypocritical as hell from a hiphop prespective. Hiphop was based on sampling others music and now producers who did that in the past are trying to condemn others for doing what they used to do:rudy:

Sound sound sound
so why do they release instrumentals then?? you nikkas are clueless

lord finesse is starving for some money...i can go on youtube right now and see thousands of rap videos shot by unknown dudes using other peoples beats...but the producers dont care until the ONE actually gets some people interested..

am i the only one who wants to kick mac miller in the face? This guy just seems like he tries to hard and is phony and a pain in the ass to be around

to me he acts like a young adult going into his 20's who grew up in the internet age of music, so knows about a lot of the "golden era" stuff just off that...you guys are always crying about young people not knowing about that old boom bap bullshyt, but yet this jew does and all of a sudden hes a fraud :scusthov:

People in here defending Lord Finesse just gonna ignore this though? I don't care if you don't like Mac Miller because I personally hate him but you can't deny how big of a bytch move this is

that wasnt no lead single for anything. mixtapes werent artist compilations/vehicles like today. a dj you respected got you to come over and spit real quick over a beat and that was it. mac made a hook, wrote a whole song, shot a video, toured off it, and based his promotions with it. not the same.

Yeah mane as a nikka who wants to produce this is :win: for me. I already in a way feel as tho producers should some way be compensated on the back end for their work. When artists perform they aint performing an acapella on they set :yeshrug:.
