I’ve been a casual follower of baseball and maybe it’s because that’s back when espn still covered baseball but I recognized a lot of names on that list even after never hearing them for maybe 20 years. I’m not sure I can name you more than 20 or so players playing today and I went to multiple baseball games last seasonQuite a few players from the 02 and 03 Mets is on that list.... them teams didn't even finish above 500.

. LET EM JUICE! And give them their accolades as well, including HOF. And here's a novel idea for the journalist that want to be so high and mighty with their gatekeeping. Give this era the same type of recognition amongst each other as it seems this was a leaguewide thing, including those that were elite during this time getting the credit for being elite amongst their peers. That includes HOF too. And then actually write compelling stories about the times and players so you can shape the narrative for that period how you see fit, because that's what your talent is supposed to be. Ultimately the public will take it all in a decide how much they give a fukk either way. This cockblocking and gatekeeping HOF honors is and has always been hoe shyt and reeks of nerds revenge on the jocks type shyt. All that sanctimonious "they ruined the game that I love" shyt is whiny bullshyt to me. I just think of Lupica as the mascot for those type dweebs feeling like they finally got their get back on the popular guy with shyt like that.

None of these a$$holes want to give credit to that era for saving baseball after the owners staged a coup against Faye Vincent and made bud selig commissioner who played a big role in the strike that canceled the 1994 playoffs entirely and nearly killed baseball entirely. fukk anyone who votes against the greats of the 90’s & 2000’s over that shyt. Those guys saved the owners from themselves. Note how no other sport cares about PED tests anyway. Julius Peppers failed a test his rookie year for example and nobody cares, nor does anyone refuse to give him his due as one of the great defensive linemen of his era or any era for that matter. Tbh the NFL has unofficially gone that way. If you talk to guys around the league they tell you it's very easy to get around testing protocols and that's not by mistake

Bud Selig as owner of the Brewers openly colluded with the other owners to lowball top free agent players in the 1980s', backed his same buddy buddy owner network that caused the '94 Lockout, then rode the coattails of the players back to baseballs revival in the late 90s. He was elected to the Hall of Fame by some committee with like 95% of the vote.
I was growing up in the 2000's so I wasnt fully aware to how big of a thing this was, but I'm sure it sucked to have the suspected users constantly lie to the public's face and then embarass themselves when they had to testify to Congress.
Still IMO there's still no reason for them not to be on the same ballots that include the managers and owners of that era whose win tallys and income benefited directly from those same player's production
