the realism was amazing.
those dudes took a shytoad of shots and kept going. them falls they took :bryan:
dude posted up against the tree and gave up :sadcam:
i thought the acting as far as the pain and anguish looked very believable and you could damn near feel it :to:
i thought it was a great movie as it kept me locked it 100%
i've got no gripes w/this movie at all, i'm not gonna nitpick whatsoever.

It was graphic and pretty terrifying. This isn't a movie where the bad guys are terrible at shooting. The bullets are real. The danger is legit
I liked the movie but be honest. These dudes were missing kill shots with rpgs the entire time, expect for when they had a big ass target. It took these dudes a while to kill Ben Foster, who was already dead sitting up against a tree. The film took to the time outta his death scene to showcase how shytty of a shot these guys were.

Not to mention how a 1 -2 round burst will make a arab backflip but several bullets and shrapnel wont put down an American?

There were some minor issues but I'm also in my mind comparing it to your standard action film. I don't recall members of the Taliban doing "backflips" as you say. They would get shot and fall over or roll down the incline. I'm not a weapons expert but I'm thinking what the SEALs had were more accurate than the AK-47. Plus, we're talking about highly trained soldiers versus who knows.. maybe the Taliban members were highly trained but it's just as likely they were straight off the street. Like I was saying earlier in the thread.. I only have general knowledge of this situation. I've read one book on the Taliban and it did not discuss Operation Red Wings. RPGs are terribly inaccurate with how they were using them.. I would not expect them to be precise with an RPG while running full speed down an incline. Just a terrible choice in my view.

Dope ass movie. If you watched HBO first look on it you'd know the tall, chubby dude always wearing the shades wit them is Marcus, the real lone survivor. nvm, they show him at the end too.

If any of you cats know anything about shooting assault rifles and the skill it takes to hit targets then you'd know that these guys were fukking bad ass. These dudes took multiple hits, two ridiculous falls off the mountain and were STILL lining up shots and hitting dead on. Ben Foster was fukking Iron Man, it was obvious he took a shot to the lungs and was still going. The one dude in the beginning lost 3 fingers and was still blasting. smh at the shytty satellite phones.

Overall great fukking movie and tribute to the real SEALs that died.

Mixed feelings about this, I don't know the entire story or how much of it is true, just the general information. First, it comes off a little too much as Oscar bait in the beginning. I doubt it will garner much attention during award season but the little things like the opening training montage or the score or the slow motion deaths make it too obvious what the film was trying to be. Leave that out. The online chat between that one dude and his girl was ugh. Once the team begins the op it really picks up though. They do a great job of showing how dire the situation is... the action never felt unrealistic to me. It was graphic and pretty terrifying. This isn't a movie where the bad guys are terrible at shooting. The bullets are real. The danger is legit. The team also takes a tumble down this hill that was just :scusthov: ... painful..The last half hour is not as good...Wahlberg's acting in the village left a lot to be desired. Overall it's a solid movie and worth the watch. The end credits got me.. the real pictures/video of those who lost their lives in combat :to:
The movie is TYPICAL American war propaganda...

The whole movie was to glorify American Special Forces, but it had the opposite effect on me...It made me realize there is NOTHING heroic about going to someone else's country and dying like a dog over there...To me those Seals are not heroes, they are just dumb patriots who drank the Kool-Aid and paid the ultimate price...

But past the politics of the movies...It was entertaining...I agree, when they were tumbling down the hill I was like :damn:

I didn't like the fact that they didn't ALWAYS put subtitles when the Afghans were talking...They obviously do this to dehumanize them as savages, while the Americans are civilized heroes...

If you like a American war propaganda, then it is a good movie...But if you a person with multiple perspectives, don't think too much, just enjoy the action...

Definitely agree.

The combat was the best I've ever seen in any movie. Better than Saving Private Ryan, better than Black Hawk Down. Better than Heat.

But otherwise the movie and the book left a bitter taste in my mouth. This dude Lutrell is an idiot. Chris Kyle, the other SEAL poster boy who was killed was an idiot too. Reading their books convinced me of that. I'm not saying it applies to all SEALs, but these two guys are nothing but thugs. Well trained thugs, given that Uncle Sam invested millions of dollars in their training, but thugs nonetheless.

The Navy can throw as many medals at them as they want, but people in the know are not fooled. As persons and as Special Forces operators they leave a lot to be desired.

As for the RPG thing, it wasn't unrealistic given how the Taliban were using them. RPGs are anti-armor, not anti-personnel. You could have an RPG hit a wall within a few feet of you and not be killed, because they are not designed to expand and spread shrapnel like a grenade. They are designed to punch through metal plating, so all its energy needs to be delivered in a very small area.

I didn't feel that way at all. There were some aspects where I felt they were catering to the awards folks...Oscar bait.. but your perspective that they were trying to paint the Afghans as savages.. no, I don't see that anywhere in the film. In fact, I would say they were more than fair in that regard.

What's so confusing...?

They should have had sub-titles when the Afghans were talking...They only put subtitles in the village scene...As far as I can remember...

They did the same for Black Hawk Down...Even worse, the people were NOT even speaking a Somali language :russ:

I think it is a powerful propagandist tool...It makes the opposition seem lesser than the "heroes"...The heroes have language, people at home that they love and all that goody goody bleeding heart stuff, but the opposition are just blood thirsty babbling buffoons...

You need to pay attention...
