Break it down for me, why does Teofimo need Haney's 'belt' to be undisputed? Haney got upgraded to champion because Loma was made the franchise champ. Does that hierarchy not matter?
I genuinely haven't kept up with the implications the WBC franchise has on undisputed, but shouldn't Teo be considered the legitimate undisputed champ?
Anyways, Gervonta is about to become a PPV fighter, Garcia is going to attract a big payday, while Haney is fighting a shot Gamboa on a nearly defunct network. Teo strung together incredible knockouts, including knocking out Commey for the IBF title, before he could fight Lomachenko, AND THEN he pulls off the UPSET on ESPN. Haney had a boring azz fight against a nobody on the Billy Joe Saunders card, and actually fought before Logan Paul if I'm not mistaken.
If I'm Teofimo, and all my life's work culminated in the win yesterday, hell the fukk yeah I'm taking the more lucrative fights over a green azz unknown azz Haney. Let him get his name up.
Haney was upgraded because Loma begged for franchise instead of actually fighting his mandatory in haney. Franchise champ in its original form was made for someone like canelo who moves up and down divisions and wouldn't have the ability to actually defend his title. Loma and Top rank conspired and begged for " franchise champ" in order to actually not fight haney. So i guess if you think its ok that a boxing sanction created a fake belt in order to satisfy a promoter so they could in the future duck and close out competition im with that

But on the other hand, who did Haney actually beat for that belt? Loma might've ducked him, but I don't remember Haney actually beating another ranked fighter for that belt, and I have a hard time recognizing him as the champ when the belt was essentially just gifted to him. I don't think it's okay for a fighter to be given a belt, especially when they're only 21 and didn't have to pass the test of actually being in a championship fight.
This is why the organizations need to be taken apart though. It's ridiculous what a fighter has to do to unify, but now we can't even fully crown an undisputed champion.

He beat Antonio moran who was #3 at the time when he was #2. Somehow Luke Campbell jumped him in the rankings and the WBC recognized it and promised he would get the winner. Everyone but Gamboa is ducking, after this fight Haney might have to retire because Campbell, Lopez, Garcia, and Loma are all ducking him and those are the fighters in his class, no one else.

Haney is the 'champ,' but Loma was the 'franchise' ranked top 3 P4P on most lists.
The Haney fight doesn't need to happen next for either fighters legacy. They are both clearly going to move up to 140, with Haney potentially becoming a better fighter than he is today, and certainly a larger draw down the line. He's not a more lucrative fight than either Gervonta or Ryan Garcia at this point.
