I too thought the HOF game went smoothly, no big gripes with any of the calls and didn't feel like they missed anything big

That's because the got away with holding calls.

You're talking about the "smoothness" of the game for your watching pleasure, NOT about what's taking place in the field.

What the fukk you talking about agenda?

You think I really give a shyt who refs these games? If the strike ends tomorrow you think i`ll be upset Hocchuli and them are back.

I`m just saying the game wasn't bad, it went smoothly. This weekend should be a better barometer of how these gusy perform

You should for the very reason I gave here:

If I'm coaching a team facing....lets say...a Justin Smith and I know the refs are overlooking players being blocked whiles already engaged and not calling it, I'm chopping that niqqa while he's being blocked play after the play, putting him in danger until they call it.

Let these incompetent refs hurt these star players....then you'll see fans go ape shyt.

You'll either dismiss it or write some garbage as if it isn't possible.

These refs put YOUR players in danger.

Downplay it if you want. But throwing flags deters fukked up shyt from happening.

So you`re just going off the assumption that the refs will miss stuff like this.

You're going off of a lot of assumptions.

You are though, you made up a scenario assuming that would happen and the refs would miss it.

When this does happen, then we can talk about it, but until then why bring it up?

I`m actually with you on the fact that the regular refs are moist likely the better solution, but I don't know for sure, because the regular refs have been pretty bad in the past.

I`ve seen the "pros" give a Super Bowl win to Pittsburgh.

I think the HOF game went "smoothly" as well without a lot of holds being called and not too many bad or missed calls that I could see.

NOW best believe if it was the Giants playing I would have watched alot closer and prob won't think games are going smoothly if JPP, Tuck, Osi and them boys are getting held all game without flags being thrown.

I don't like the resumes or lack thereof but I am willing to see what goes on in the preseason before I get worried.

this
at the end of the day pros miss tons of calls either way, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

look at it this way: if there are too many bad calls/noncalls->bad "new" refs are out

if there aren't, the league gets fresh refs. I mean new refs have to come from *somewhere* u know ? :manny: otherwise refs will just die and therell be no replacements.

of course reffing college games would be a good prereq

I`m of this school of thought, because really I could care less about the refs, and if these guys do a decent job, I don't mind the idea of some fresh blood, younger guys too hopefully.

No way does the first game of a season goes on without flags.

Waiting for your tv to replay what should have been called is a moot point.

The regular refs suck too though. They throw way too many flags and bog the game down to a snails pace. :manny:

I feel a lot of them think they become the star of the show, Mike Carey & Hocchil are infamous for this.

Mike Carey will take 3 minutes to describe the exact intricate detials of an over-turned replay, with the most dramatic of hand gestures.

It was the first game, the hall of fame game at that so I admittedly was not paying attention like it was a Giants game, I stated that already....I think once we have a larger sample size, we can start to analyze and worry about it

Cats are marrying their viewing pleasure to that of a quality ref.

Not making calls in the first pre season game says a lot.
