My conclusion on recent banks projects is

These are my top 3 as of now

1. Coti 3 best overall album

2. Halloween havoc 5 hardest tape and mixed great and overall great sound and a classic banks tape. Only time will tell if this is actually number 1 for me. This one’s on repeat right now it’s just too early to say right away since coti 3 is ill af too.

3. Coti 1 best highs and probably has more of my favorite tracks but also has lows like “food ft styles p” which sounds cheap, and a handful other tracks where the beats aren’t great but banks still kills them but I don’t replay em because of the mid production, and as a whole the albums not mixed great and not cohesive.

Forgot to include 3 cause I forgot about it lol. Should tell ya all you need to know, but yea, that was a step in the right direction. To your second point, this shyt on repeat, which tells me all I need to know. Cant say that for the others. Still gonna get tossed later for Ab Soul, but I could at least see myself coming back to this one

The more I listen, this is up there with some of his best work.
I always find it difficult ranking his albums cuz he is really dope but this is up there, like top 5 shyt.
He's a beast. I don't think he will ever sell huge again or have another hit on the charts but his quality of work his last releases means he will always have that Europe/Australia/New Zealand tour money. And he making the music he likes. Not that Cookie cutta sound that they had when they were always chasing the next in da club.

So he happy and as a fan ( fan meant in the normal way not drake/diddy type fan), I am too.

Once again really agree with this except I do think I can already rank HHV as the best of his recent run. Pen is just insanely sharp on this one and the mixing is best in a while too, like you pointed out.

I also really agree with what you said about COTI1 too. The first half of that album is some quintessential Banks fire. Sidewalks, Empathy and Death by Design are the type of tracks that made me a fan of Banks in the first place. Also agree with Food sounding especially cheap lol, that an Early Exit both sound like some shyt I could’ve recorded on cool edit pro mixing wise (although I do like the songs as far as the lyrics go).

But yeah, Banks is trending in the right direction imo because as far as his recent run his two latest drops COTI3/HH5 are his best imo.

This album is better than COTI 1 or 2. Solely off Production and beats. I said it. shyt matters. This music, not spoken word :manny:

Hope he continues this for the next AON.

I have to listen again but from what I heard I agree with you….i still am trying to go back and listen to COTI series. HHV does sound better to me just not as good as the other HH tapes or tapes from past decade. HHIV was and still is my shyt.

I like that he’s rapping about deep stuff with thought behind it. It’s music you can break down slowly and figure out new meaning behind those words.
