Safe to say its Banks best work, lyrically.
Last time he improved his lyrics like this for the first time was Return of the PLK When he dropped the punchlines

I haven't replied to this thread because I've been studyin this mixtape.
Banks is a modern lyrical genius
I felt this since I first heard him, this nikka is a well of untapped raw hip-hop

I really do get why nikkas say Banks is in there top 5..shyt I understand why 50 says it

The caliber Banks is spittin at right now fukin impeccable...He can't be compared to anyone else right now
Some songs if you imagine his old flow with the current song :wow:

My top tracks no order

Monument
Take Your Pick 1:00 - until the end...is uncanny 1:40-1:55 good grief... this nikka only writes with a sharp ass number 2 pencil
Sacrifice
Own Way
All I am

This shyt is classic

Okay, so when is the punch line era of Banks done? V5 or V6? Is V5 sort of a transitionary tape, or would the big Banks heads consider V5 and up all a part of the sort of style he has now?

And what's the order of the 5 and better series?

As far as tapes it goes Money in the Bank series, then 5 and Better series, then V5, V6, CC2, FNO, and HH2, right?

Had to type this biblical skripture :wow:

Since my young years I've been wreckin shyt/
Ain't know my own strength/ My Pencil split
On instrumentals I'm sick/
Inff Red dot on temple hit/
Cold as my temperament/
Tall 10 tempted on tensin' it/
Tends to be tension with the kid/
fukk all the pertendin' shyt/
Bendin' these lines together/ left hand, pardon my penmanship/
Gotta work harder than the next man/ armed with an extra clip/
Makin my shyt list before the jet land/
bombin' consecutive/
Rig the election, need my city section/

Bring the neglected/
I implement anxiety inside her world....../
And I'm the society, poppin' these bottles and bottle girls/

You want the life now, hypocrisy/ Copy my monologue/
None of those goofy lines-
Hot 9 glock n ya pockets small-
You don't understand me now
-Mind locked and I shocked it all

Bad news will stun ya family-
-Ponbox if you don't knock it off

I burn up all your memories-
time dropped and I'm not to cross-
-End up right back at the top at all cost...

I would say the punchline era Banks ended with Mo Money in the Bank pt .4. Pt. 5 wasn't really punchline heavy and was the beginning of his transition from being punchline heavy emcee to a more well rounded one. The Top 5 and Better series was Banks with a renewed hunger and a new style, which was also a continuation of his work on the G-Unit projects after Curtis. U could really see his growth as a songwriter throughout the series, especially on the last two, 4-30-09, and V5. I would say HFM2 reminded everyone Banks knows what he's doing when it comes to holding songs and knowing what to put on mixtapes and what to save for albums. From there he dropped Cold Corner 2, which is his best project and best display of songwriting imo. Then he dropped V6, FNO, and finally HH2. To answer ur question I would say V5 was when we really started to see Banks get more personal and then he kind of got away from it on HFM2 and continued on in CC2 and everything after.

Go back and listen to Terminate on Sight for banks bars. Same 5 or better style Banks and crisp on an actual mixed/mastered project. He was annihilating gunit on everything and 50 still had something left in the tank back then.
