Because a large majority of rap fans aren't as mature as the fans of every other musical genre. THOSE fans respect the HISTORIES of their genres...thus, for example, why Bruce Springsteen made $268M off touring, Paul McCartney made $110M off touring and The Rolling Stones made $90M off touring...IN 2016 ALONE. Those old ass rock artists get NEW fans with each new generation because REVERENCE is expressed within those communities for the history of their particular brands of rock....so they never "fall off".

Conversely, if you're a rap artist who's been out for longer than five years in TODAYS climate, yet you aint got no IMMEDIATE hit record, then people say you fell off and disregard you as a has been...just look at the responses in THIS thread....and that doesn't even begin to speak on legends and past all-stars of the genre.

It's the result of an instant gratification, "just add water" sensibility that runs our society.
