Players get drafted overr all the time. :manny:

Atlanta might have concerns about Cousin's health.
Why give him a $100 million contract then? Why take someone with health issues worse than Cousins?

You don't pay someone $100 million dollars and then draft their replacement in the top 10. You do typically that later in the draft and not in the top 10.

If that was the Falcons plan all along, then they should have kept it real with Cousins from the jump and he probably would have ended up staying in Minnesota and having more potential security.

Rodgers was right being vocal about it and Cousins does as well.

Pearsall over adonai mitchell is interesting. I actually like Mitchell over worthy
Worthy's an interesting one because it's really not about him, it's about where he went.

He could easily be the worst WR tool-wise of all the 1st round WRs but have the best stats/career of all of them off the strength of playing in that Chiefs system with Mahomes.

It’s not agent games. He really might be him. This is my JJ McCarthy post

1- You really have to think about who his coach was. Harbaugh, the same guy who just dropped Keenan, Mike Williams, and passed on 2 WR1s to instead get a tackle. So McCarthy not passing is not an indicator of his lack of talent, it’s Harbaugh being Harbaugh

2- It’s very easy to look at a player and pidgeon hole him into what we think. Most people are probably walking around thinking JJ = Alex smith. In actuality, McCarthy had the same throw velocity as Joe Milton. Yea, that Joe Milton that people think may have the strongest arm in the league from day 1. Milton 62mph, McCarthy 61mph. QBs rarely throw above 60. Milton tied for fastest ever with ….Josh Allen.

Favre (rumored)- 63mph
Milton, Josh Allen- 62mph
JJ McCarthy- 61
Mahomes, Anthony Richardson-60
Stroud-58
Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Jimmy Garoppolo, Marcus Mariota-56
Joe Flacco, Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston- 55

So, he is not some noodle arm game manager. You marry high end arm talent matched with intangibles and ‘winning’ qualities? It’s not BS McCarthy could be sick

For me, game manager isn't an indicator of physical ability. JJ has an arm, but his ceiling as a QB is not the same as the others. If we're talking about all of the QBs both good and bad.
  • Caleb is Black Manziel. His fans start with the stats and highlights, but if you watch him he is not consistent and is a bit of front runner.
  • Jayden is RG3 2.0. He is a track body, with speed, who can really throw, but he doesn't know how to protect his body while playing.
  • Drake Maye is Trubisky with better PR and less pressure. I would bet money I could pass off a Trubisky highlight tape as a Maye highlight tape. They went to the same college and even had the same number. Luckily for him he's going to NE where they're going to slow play him. If they don't he'll be another Mitch. (Mitch's biggest issue was he got drafted ahead of Mahomes and Watson and they couldn't slow play him. Maye got drafted behind Caleb and Jayden)
  • Penix is Culpepper. He's not as big, but he's athletic enough to run yet he won't and he is going to throw BOMBS. His main problem is his brain short circuits when you force him to play intermediate to short. He shines when he can play deep to intermediate.
  • Bo Nix is a bigger Brock Purdy with more pedigree. He'll be fine with a bit of talent surrounding him and he won't make dumb plays.

JJ is Josh Freeman. He definitely has tools to work with, but when your team's ability to win is solely focused on his performance you're going to be a .500 or worse team in the NFL because he is going to make mistakes by putting too much dip on his chip. I get that he's "won" everywhere he's been, but Michigan was a best case scenario for him in college with how the team was structured and his coach is conservative as hell. If Michigan fans are being honest they'd admit during this title run year they wanted him off the field at times. If Caleb/Jayden/Penix/Nix played as badly as JJ did against Maryland their team loses.

I know there are supposedly some red flags teams had on Mitchell, but that doesn't excuse that dumbass move of drafting Pearsall over him though...

I actually watched the games fool. Ondunze is a damn stud, which is why he was picked in the top 10. What you are saying is actually kind of nonsensical, because Harrison had CJ Stroud throwing to him for a couple of years at Ohio State. Nobody takes anything away from Harrison because of Stroud, but you attributing a large amount of Ondunze success to Penix.
MHJ was exceptional with multiple QBs. Odunze best years were with Penix only

I didn't look at the contract, but how much of Cousin's buyout?

100%. If Cousins knew they were drafting a QB in round 1 he never signs in Atlanta.

I don't even have a problem with Penix aside from his injury red flag - I think he'll be a really good player - but you just gave a guy 90 million dollars guaranteed and drafted his replacement before he even took a snap for your team :skip:

Assuming he doesn't get injured, they can get out of the country with a lower dead cap hit after year 2.

So he's going to get benched at some point in year 2 like other QBs have to prevent it becoming guaranteed for injury.

You aren't drafting a top 10 QB to sit on the bench for multiple years, so Cousins has every reason to be pissed by the move as he could have went elsewhere with more security.

Ondunze had a good season before Penix arrived.

Harrison has been in school 3 years. His 1st year he had 11 catches for 139 yards. In year 2 he had 77 catches for 1,263 yards. Both years was with Stroud. In his 3rd year he had a new quarterback he caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards.

Ondunze has been in school 3 years and a redshirt year. Yr 1 he had 6 catches for 72 yards. As a red shirt freshman he had 41 catches for 415 yards. Then Penix came and Ondunze had 75 catches for 1,145 yards and then 92 catches for 1,640 yards.

41 for 415 is not a "good season" therefore both his good seasons were with Penix, like I said

Lets...not compare arm strength to these people when the guy hasn't launched it like that in games.

Show me that jaw dropping arm strength in a game because many of those guys there are actually clips that prove it's not a fluke.

Furthest I've ever seen dude throw was 60 indoors.

Did you really just reference a year in which cuh started 1 game (a bowl game at that) and was like WR4-5 on the depth chart like it's to be taken serious? :patrice:
