- The professor is dead/missing. At the end of the premiere, they discover a secret from his past and/or a clue to his murderer/whereabouts!
- The mayor or some ally is actually evil.
- They have a friend who’s played by a minority and/or gay.
- One of them is lesbian.
- There’s a montage towards the end where each one of them is ~contemplating~ to the tune of some indie song.
- There’s a bonding scene among the three of them where they hug it out and talk about their problems over food and/or alcohol.

a live action kid's version of Dex would be good IMO.
Have a little fat goofy glassed kid as Dex. Finding an a$$hole sister wouldn't be hard. whoever plays Mandark would need to be perfect for the show to work tho.
