Some of the comments said some real talk bout how if AZ did mention his name then it woulda been “why you dropping my name? You coulda told your story without mentioning me” :stopitslime:

It seem like his issue with AZ is more than just this. No matter what AZ did he woulda had a problem with it :stopitslime:

Far as AZ acting like he ain’t wanna get on/he was too cool to be a rapper etc, that ain’t what it sounded like he meant to me when he said he wasn’t thinking bout getting on/making an album. It sounded more like he was saying he didn’t think labels were checking for him or he was ready at the time so he wasn’t thinking bout doing an album. He didn’t say he didn’t wanna get on :mjtf:

Peep how he told the story bout Life’s A bytch and how excited he was Nas decided to put it on Illmatic. How he thought Nas was joking at first then was happy to find out he wasn’t. That ain’t the words of someone acting like he too cool and/or didn’t wanna get on. :sas1:

this type of shyt can be attributed to the hip hop podcast bullshyt. If Little Shawn was up here telling positive stories, it wouldn't be shared and we wouldn't be talking about it now. For years this same blueprint is present in Drink Champs, Math, Shannon Sharpe, Vlad, etc.. They will have a guest on to talk about their career, but no matter what is said, people will remember the beef. It can be a 4 hour interview, but if 5 minutes are about another person, this is what will be remembered. They tried to bait Andre 3K into a war of words with LL, but he wasn't easily fooled to contribute.

it's obviously the human condition, but social media era/podcast./clicks/comments/like/subscribe is so influential here

just the way certain stories are framed, or dissected, everything has become a counter narrative, like reality TV style

AZ breaks silence on Little Shawn takedown

Joe Budden reveals who he was dissing on his show

and so on. All for drama. all for attention. and it's so cynical because these are not real issues. They are woven out of nearly nothing. Shawn could have told that story as like an addition to the AZ story, instead he grasped for conflict.

I really do think his conflict with AZ is a little deeper. Even if he's saying that A is lying for not including him, what was the reason for saying he acts too cool, or not a tough guy, not a gangster, not street, not a hustler...everything he said between this and Drink Champs.

And A wasn't saying he wasn't trying to be a rapper, he was saying getting a deal and an album was a longshot, so he wasn't focused on it. Besides, it's not like he took him to a label, for someone so plugged. He introduced him to a guy that introduced him to other guys on a phone call which led to him and Nas building a bond...which led to a song that he didn't even know was gonna be on the album...which led to his deal.

But one thing I will admit that I love about his story is that he was everywhere. People think that it's impossible for someone to always be in the mix, but if you really pay attention, the names in the back are always the same. It's the ones in the front that change.

There's guys I know who are my boys, but it's more like they just knew me at a certain point, and we still have that bond of those old days, but they are not doing good.
