How come?
breh...you can't jump from making less than a million to max contract status. There are rules in place to prevent shyt like that. Just read any article that pops up after googling "Jeremy Lin contract"
How come?
Not so fast. :corsosmiley:
A team that's under the cap like Toronto can offer more on a backloaded contract, one that would prevent the Knicks from using the MLE.
Knicks can match a backloaded contract.
This...................How come? Plenty teams out there have cap room
But they'll go over the luxury cap in those future years, which makes it impossible for them to sign Lin for the MLE.
Since when does going over the luxury cap in future years stop teams from signing a player?
Fact is, STAT, Melo, Chandler, and Shumpert are already guaranteed for the next three years pretty much. If they want to add Lin & Landry there's nothing stopping them from doing so.
But there is yet another wrinkle to consider: Teams under the salary cap can offer Lin more than $5 million per season in the third and fourth years of a contract offer, as long as the average annual value of the deal does not exceed the salary cap.
If the Knicks were to match such a back-loaded offer, it may put them above the luxury tax in the third and fourth years of Lin's contract and prohibit them from using their mid-level exception.
From the article:
...it says nothing about the Knicks not being able to match. Reading comprehension says that the inability to use the MLE is in the event that the Knicks do match
Who the hell said Lin would be only willing to except MLE that's simply knicks fans pipe dreams and basically the only way they could sign him, please believe a desperate team like the Raptors would throw big money at lin.

It's amazing how fast Linsanity exploded and how fast it imploded.
No mo trips to Souf Beach fo dat chigga.
Quick question, what was the purpose of the Gilbert Arenas rule? To keep players from purposefully falling to the second round?
