Wayne still snapping. Andre still raps from time to time so he can’t really say too much aside from Wayne is way nicer at this stage.

I cant imagine stanning a rapper with limited subject matter :picard: . Unable to make mature hip-hop.

Can't relate

What Stacks said really applies to Wayne. People have been forcing themselves to like the music he's been putting out for the last few years and it flat out hasn't been good.

On top of a lot of his old music not aging well.
C5 was one of his best albums in his discography

I think Wayne's best work has aged quite well...

But he has been washed for a decade, it's 2024 in a month. Wayne hasn't been an elite spitter in a decade. So he was really done as an elite spitter by his early 30s...

So Dre's comment really is about guys like Wayne. Wayne should stop rapping, he's doing his legacy a disservice with every year that passes and we get the same verses and songs we've always gotten from him...

How many rappers do we have making an impact at 40+?

It's not just Andre who feels that way.

This is such trash :heh: Yall choosing sides bc it’s Andre. Saying you have nothing to talk about bc you’re 40 is an indictment on his artistry. Nas just dropped 6 albums, jay dropped 4:44, killer Mike hit his peak at or around 40, Andre himself his last feature was on a 40+ Kanye album

We and a lot of older rappers spend a lot of time advocating rap to be treated like other genres, to fight the age stigma that seems to only exist in rap. Styles P was just speaking on it. Rock acts make music and tour into their 70s. We trying to get that respect….yet bc Andre 3k says some nut ass shyt we supposed to agree.

Nah, it was a dumbass comment

A surprisingly lucid, candid, and poignant thought from Lil Wayne…

He’s right in the sense that one of the one of the most naturally gifted rappers of our time feeling that rapping past a certain age automatically makes you uncool is depressing. Especially when top level artists like Nas, Jay-Z, Big Boi, AZ, Common and KRS are proving that thought process WRONG almost everyday of the week.

But again its HIS opinion and to be fair Andre has been saying the same thing for the past 17 years or so. Its not like he’s switched up he’s consistently said that he struggles to write, that he’s only inspired intermittently, and that he’s bored with rap music in general. Andre is in his own world and that world unfortunately doesn’t include rap. But for so many other artists and MC’s their worlds DO include rap, so why harp on what Andre 3000 says or isn’t saying? Rap has always been bigger than one man’s opinion

Because that one man is Andre 3000 and as such an influential figure in the game, he'd like him to feel differently. Especially when hip hop as a whole is fighting the "young man's game" gesture as the 2000s and newer generation of rappers grow older
