“To me, a racist is someone who treats a different race than theirs a different way than they would treat theirs,” he explained. “I feel like if you’re a Black person and you treat all Black people one way and all white people one way, you’re racist. I’m not a racist, so I give a white person a chance to talk and actually we get into it before I can say I don’t like you or not. And I feel the same way about a Black person. You ain’t gon’ be my buddy just ’cause you’re Black. Just straight up.”

Whats wrong with what he said?
right?

How are we denying opportunities to people?

how are we segregating them in their own communities?

how are we denying them access to capital?

how are we promoting negative stereotypes against them?

this idea that black people are racist on means of power is just read ridiculous cause we have none.

:mjtf:
racism and systemic racism are two diff things.
if you discriminate against people based on race, or feel your race is superior to others you are a racist.

Right. I don’t see one lie.
Right. I don’t see one lie.
Because you’re a cac or a c00n dumbass
Again- for the slow in the room:

Ricky Sherover-Marcuse asserts that "we should not confuse the occasional mistreatment experienced by whites at the hands of people of color with the systematic and institutionalized mistreatment experienced by people of color at the hands of whites” (“A Working Definition of Racism," p. 2). While expressions of racial prejudice directed at white people may hurt the white person/people individually or personally, and are never to be condoned, they do not have the power or authority to affect the white person's social/economic/political location and privileges. (See our definition of White Privilege/White-Skin Privilege)

Reverse racism is a myth because it tries to ignore the fundamental question of who holds more power/privilege between the individuals/groups involved; the myth of reverse racism assumes that racism occurs on a so-called level playing field

Myth of Reverse Racism — Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre

Racism is power and prejudice. Black people can be prejudiced but not racist.
If you were a hiring manager for a job, and you had a black dude who was SLIGHTLY less qualified and a white dude. Who would you hire?
I for one would hire the black dude. The reason why is due to the racism of white ppl, and the fact i think we need to go above and beyond to help our own to progress. That being said...by definition i am discriminating against the white dude and I am thus racist

If you're typing this, then you believe that minorities or "people that don't have power" can't be racist either.

I believe Mugabe did this though when he kicked them crackers out of Zimbabwe and took their farms.
No. I just know that racism is about power and prejudice combined.

Like @Nicole0416 said...the idea of reverse racism equates to there being a level playing field where there is not.

Also I do know many black people have been sadly conditioned to think that being race first (ie looking out for black interests first) is inherently racist...when other groups literally do it all the time.

Another reason why I just have to smh when some of these new school black folks be teying to include other groups in our struggle.

Like they are good. They have power and numbers. They have consolidated wealth. We don't.

Why is this so hard for some of you to understand?

Lol nikkas in the thread calling him a c00n because he described the wrong form of discrimination lol shyt crazy
it's c00nish to even utter "black people can be racist too". It completely removes 500 years of context. Trying to equate black response to racism with racism.

How come we never hear "Jews can be racist too"?

”Simply put, Morgan said reverse racism doesn't exist and a person who claims otherwise is "outing themselves as someone who has little to no experience or knowledge of what racism is."

Racism is based on a couple of things—historical, systemic oppression and power, Morgan explained. And as far as history goes, white people have never been persecuted for the colour of their skin”

Why can't Black people be racist? I never understood this.
Can Mexicans be racist to be Black people?
Can Asians be racist to Black people in America?
Is it impossible for minorities to be racist? That just seems silly.
It’s silly for you to keep pretending that you’re black

“There's a difference, he noted, when white people who are in a position of power espouse a hatred of minorities than when it's done the other way around.”

i dont know who Morgan is.
i just know that as racism is defined, it doesnt necessarily have to feature systemic oppression

it's like saying in order to be a misogynist you have to be the way white dudes were in the 50s. Nah. You can be a misogynist by simply hating women and being prejudice/discriminatory against them as a result.

Based on what yall are saying, the only racist ppl in america are white ppl. Hell nah. Every race is racist against blacks period.

This is such a basic example though that doesn't paint the whole picture.

Other than some small examples of black people hiring and firing people based on race...what else is there comparable that black people can do on a large scale to other groups of people that can actually constitute as "racism"? On a systemic level? On an institutional level?

We don't have good ole boys club networks that deny white people access to HBCUS and white people and non-blacks have been taken advantage of those for years now recently.

There are less than 25 black owned banks in America and theyve been struggling.

Have Black people ever went on ethnic cleansing campaigns against other races of people?

Have Black people ever sent non blacks to their deaths en masse in large numbers?

Have Black people redlined poor whites and non blacks in low income communities and put them in substandard government housiing?

How can any of you type out some of these scemarios and draw these conclusions without paying attention to reality?

:dwillhuh:
