DR and Haiti have a long deep history with each other and both are POOR third world countries. Dominicans fought for their independence FROM haiti and then several decades later we had a racist dictator trujillo who was trying to change the country white, get down with hitler and the genocide of millions of haitians. His own generals murdered him and still to this day it leaves a poor taste in dominicans mouth when speaking of him.

Of course in present time there has been conflicts between individual dominicans and haitians(on the island) but its not based on the color of hatians. Theres dominicans as dark as haitians but theres major differences between the two 1)the language 2)the culture 3)their religion and then you add their deep history.

Here in the U.S? Thats str8 up bullshyt, for the most part dominicans and haitians usually dont even live in the same neighborhoods over here at least in nyc. Most haitians i know are from BK while most dominicans live in uptown manhattan and the bronx. But never have i heard of dominicans and haitians beefing here stateside. I have seen this though

And that nytimes article clearly states they ADDED systematic racism, they did not toss the rest of the definition to the side they just turned it into 3 parts
There's an entire word for anti-Haitian sentiment in the DR - antihaitianismo - it exists both on the island and here as well.I wouldn't make this a two-way street:

The reason behind the initial anti-Haitian annexation was due to the European-Dominican elites' desperation to hold onto their colonial power and institutions - then France robbed Haiti and the taxes from the unity government made the Haitian unity government unpopular.

Anti-haitianismo has real racialized consequences - including rejection of birthright and citizenship for Haitians and even darker-complected Dominicans who reside on that side of Hispaniola. It has translated here to the US - I don't know about NYC - but it definitely exists in Miami.

Of course there anti haitian people on the island when you look back at their conflicted history sharing an island. But you really think you can speak for the 11 million dominicans living on this planet and say every single one of them is anti haitian? Or anti-black? Thats the problem certain posters like you have on this site, ya like to generalize an entire group of people and act like its facts

Yea we have a shytty goverment in DR as well but just like the goverment here they dont speak for everybody and not everybody agrees with the deporting shyt they did years ago. Plenty of dominicans on the island were against it

The act of treating someone differently because of their race is racism.
I don't have a dog in this fight because I call it how it is. Black people, just like everyone else, can be racist. I don't give a fukk what some bytch ass sociologist, or mangy white liberal academy with a bunch of letters after his name told y'all.

Yall coli-nikkas are the living definition of how dangerous having a little bit of information can be.

The whole idea that Blacks can't be racist is the implicit admission that the words, ideas and thoughts of blacks are meaningless. I will never accept that. Our people have the agency and power to be, think and do anything - for good and for bad.

Now if you want to say African Americans are unable to be systemically racist in the US, I agree. In order for racism to pervade a system there needs to be an element of power. But please believe that where Blacks control the power structure - like for example an African country - we are more than capable of being systemically racist towards ethnic minorities within said structure.

Playing word games with "racist" is a waste of everyone's time.

When that Mexican bytch was saying black lives don't matter and we were all pieces of shyts while living in America, was she racist or just "prejudice"? When that Indian woman was calling her black boss a ****** in his office, was she racist or prejudice?

Do people still not understand the difference between prejudice and racism in 2020?
It's called letting white people redefine words to fit their narrative. Not helpful to them or us. It's just outright racism. They are spinning the word and the situation to make the oppressed turn into the oppressor. How can a black person oppress in this society?
