my initital thought was wayne

but then i began to think how rap is from acts domestically like Pop, to overseas. Like those italians that was posted here

And almost all, is linked back to keef and his influence

Keef def has a case to be the winner here
What Italians? they outchea doing drill now?

If this isn't the most goalpost movingest shyt I've ever seen in my life. You basically said influence isn't influence, except in my subjective parameters that change whenever I want. What is influence if not emulation? I gave Kid cudi an influential streak through his emotion in his songs not even his sound. Kanye simply hasn't been that influential in this past decade no matter how many people force it. He might have made being a regular dude cool but even that isn't cool anymore seeing as how the game is filled with drugged out weirdos.

I did not force my definition on influence like you are doing. What I gave you was actually the literal definition of influence. And yes, Kanye has been influential this past decade.

You're whole argument is based on doing some shyt first. T-pain wasn't even a factor when future took off, and straight up said future was using autotune wrong. But whatever breh. :hubie: t-pain the most influential artist of the 2010s. You win.

Pioneering something is a huge part of being influential. When speaking about influence, everything is a ripple effect. Ya'll be focused on a singular ripple and not what caused the ripple. Nobody is arguing that T-Pain is the most influential artist of the 2010's, but when you are tracing autotune back to Wayne in 2008, its erroneous to dismiss T-Pain.

Where has Kanyes influence been seen in this decade? Triplet flows? Trap drums? Lofi sounds? Atmospheric sounds? 808 basslines? Auto tune? Let's take it to fashion. Colored dreads? Face tattoos?

1) Kanye's roll out for MBDTF spawned the whole (insert day) where artists were releasing using on said day every week.

2) Sonically, a lot of producers have cited Kanye as an influence

3) That whole Illuminati inspired shtick that a lot of these rappers still run with.

4) And yes Kanye had a big influence on fashion as well.

most of the heavy hitters in the game like drake, j cole, wale, big sean etc. were from that kanye lane.

Drakes early work was basically his rendition of 808s n heartbreaks

Its too obvious.

From his cadance, to the engineering and mixing.

Even these new age emo rappers that sing/rap. Kanye (and kid cudi by extension) made that shyt hot first then drake hopped on that wave and the rest is history...

I think people like to minimize Ye's impact on hiphop bc he comes off as such an arrogant jerk who constanly reminds everyone about it, and also because of his extra antics he notorious for...

But it true:yeshrug:

Yeezy changed the game for real for real.
