Outside of size and strength, they rate nearly identical in quite a few areas skill-set wise. LaVine only 19 while Rider came in at 22 years old.

Potentially LaVine could be better. Better off the ball even at 19. Both have BBIQ issues. Both are off the charts in open court stats. Rider clearly a better rebounder as while LaVine is a better shooter.

College ball is a different animal. Vince Carter was never the best player on his team, for example. Many nights he was 3rd best. Players don't take shyt seriously. They're young and immature. That's the biggest component, definitely. The boredom factor is bigger than people think though. Zone slows shyt down for these dudes too. And the quality of their teammates sometimes slows them down.

NCAA is about running sets, plays, making reads, these young players ain't all that great at that some times. The NBA which runs less plays and is less mechanical uses these guys to their max potential. Dudes really underestimate how hard college Basketball is, especially for those from the AAU culture.
