Been able to roll with my boy a few times since shyts been shut down. We go back and watch our video and break it down.

I've been doing stuff in my heavy bags. Moving, knee on belly, squeezing it, etc

My Academy is doing underground training since we live in California and it was great seeing the Professor and students again.

Really starting to get how important hip control/movement is.

Dont have down till where I'm doing it automatically, but if I have a split second to think about it I'm on it.

^^^^Made this post after a training session with 2 brown belts. Everyone was able to work on some thing they felt they needed work on. Mines was staying in someone's back.


FF to a session with my boy last weekend. Did back retention at the end of our training and he couldn't shake me off like normal.

It kind of sux now that the gyms are back open, cuz who knows when the next I'll get what amounted to a free private session with 2 brown belts.

Great thread! Me and my son entering 9yrs training bjj(mainly no gi). He has been more consistent than myself( he's competes regularly and work to one day compete in adcc). But I work with him and coach him alot. Keep at it fellas!

Was planning on dropping down to 205 to compete in the 185-205 weight class.

But

My weight loss has stalled. Composition is changing, but weight isn't. So, I'll prolly go in at about 220 to fight in the 205-225 weight class.


Now that I've been training with a bunch of different ppl. I realize I can control bigger guys way easier than I can control smaller squirmy guys.

So, in the end it kind of works out.

How many competitions have you done?

I just started training at an actual gym. Still a no stripe white belt.

Any top 3 finishes so far?
