Congo won't happen. Ethiopia already started.

Congo would be selling it's country trying to build that, loan sharks will come for their money and with interest for another half a century and no political stability, would be a disaster. They'd also have to ship in 60,000 chinese who would remain for 20 years. Terrible terrible idea.

A Rwandan would never allow us to potentially have 4/10th of Africa relying on us without them getting a piece of the cake

And its not just them, its also the US and Belgium :scust: fukk em both :scust:
More like your own won't allow it.

Congolese always spreading rumors. You think your own president is Tutsi yet he harbours Hutus in his eastern part :heh:

Blame your failures on yourself.

Nah, the Nile beef literally goes back to Pharaonic times. Egypt lives and dies off of Nile water and the Blue Nile accounts for a very large percentage of the water count and also provides the silt and other nutrients which feeds Egyptian agriculture along the Nile. The truth is, studies had been done long before this which proved that if Ethiopia harnessed the hydroelectric potential of the Blue Nile it would not affect Egypt's share of Nile water. Old colonial bullshyt, larger geopolitical players jumping in and out of the schism, and Ethiopia's moments of instability has made this issue linger longer than it should have.

This book is a little dated, but I'd recommend yall read "Black Africa" by Cheikh Anta Diop. He goes over the whole continent with regard to the potential of nation building through the combination of natural resources like rivers, mineral deposits, etc. This thread reminded me of that book. With sustainable development and by harnessing the natural resources available the continent could benefit greatly.

I'm pretty sure the issues between the two nations are modern times, but still good post.

Although Ethiopia is receiving assistance from foreign companies, a significant portion of the funding the Renaissance dam is coming from bonds bought by Ethiopians within the country and in the diaspora. Do you think the Congo is capable of selling loans for development? I believe the U.S. did this in the 19th century.

With the level of corruption and lack of education or political leverage? No. Not too mention how expensive it is, in comparison, it will be one of the most expensive structures in the world in one of the least developed countries. That's like putting a platinum body on an 86' volvo, it'll break its suspension within the first 10 meters then everyone will ran sack the body and make away with it's parts.

Ethiopia is a bit more ahead politically, I think they can pull it off no doubt. Plus the dam isn't as costly.

If you were elected President of the D.R. Congo, what would you do to turn the ship of state around?

Split the country into 2-3. It's just too big for having such a lack of denseness. Sudan type of thing, but if that's too extreme, I would invest in infrastructure, propaganda, psychological capturing of the peoples mind (I would hire a John Nash type of figure), give them a sense of pride in the country and a superiority complex, ship students to asian universities instead of western ones where they'll surely come back (stricter immigration). All minerals to be state owned with various departments to oversea them, but hopefully provide a solid income to make corruption a bit more difficult.

Or in a nut shell, what the Koreans did, but replace America with China.
