If they take the first 20 minutes of their first match off and just have a 20 minute spotfest it would already be better imo :ehh:

There's a lot of room for them to have a better match, to be honest. At least what I consider a better match anyway, I'm probably in the minority when it comes to fans that watch New Japan these days.

I don't think there will be a chance the rematch is perceived as better by the majority. Unless they work a completely different match than at WK that has the same kind of heat.

Kenny probably winning will give this the special feel it needs though. A whole bunch of people are gonna lose their shyt when he gets the strap. And we are gonna have to read threads and articles about New Japan "taking over" the US with an english speaking champion and ready to "appeal to a larger wrestling audience" :heh:
Cornette and Meltz reactions are going to be GOLD. I cant wait for this.

Agreed on the match not needing to be extremely long. If Okada is just going to win it back later, they should save a long match for then if they do it at all

A trilogy would be better. It would be history repeating itself as Flair had a trilogy with Steamboat in 89. Flair and Okada have had 2 of the best years of all time.

I just don't want to see them get caught up trying to top the first one and having needlessly dangerous spots like that Avalanche Dragon Suplex.

This was one of the moves that turned me off in that match

A dangerous accident like takers dive is one thing, intentionally putting someone in serious danger is not entertaining

I really dont see this great year people are saying for Okada though. Its a good one and good that he won at WK but tbh its been pretty much the same as id expect

Yup. I haven't even attempted to get into that discussion because the gap between those who think Okada is having this all time great year and those of us who are just :ehh: :at it is so big that's not even worth it.

I get people just getting into puro being blown away by it but Okada himself has had years with just as good matches. Let alone countless of wrestlers over the years.

Flair comparison is ridiculous imo - but again, there's that gap between what people considered "all time great" - and to be honest is kinda silly. There's plenty of wrestlers that have had those type of years.

Maybe one of them will get a traumatic brain injury to make it look real

7 stars

That match already happened breh (Shibata vs Okada). Not sure how many stars it got, not that it really matters :manny:

Yeah hes just being an ace. This is what id expected of him in such a role but youre right people just starting to "get" puro will see this as a GOAT year. Speaking of which i need to watch those 5 star AJPW matches Honga posted :lawd:

Usually the second match is the best in a rivalry series (Austin/Rock, Tana/Rainmaker etc). I feel this is the match that will be worth the "six stars" than their previous feud. I see Okada and Kenny legit shooting a fair one. No stare downs just straight up scrapping :wow:.

Bottom line, I see Omega actually doing the One Winged Angel and becoming champion just in time for Tana/Omega at WK 12:blessed:

From that angle it just looks like Okada is doing a moonsault

Even though Omega/Okada was GOAT status. It still kills me that they didn't made Naito/Okada a thing for WK 11. I know they really wanted to get that western audience, but you gotta take care of home first :francis:.
Dw wk 12 bro. Tokyo dome sellout and then you put wwe out of business. They should sign marty scurll, adam cole, grado, etc.
