I also heard director Jon Favreau didn't like Howard's work on the first movie that he had to cut his role down during editing. I am sure this played a role with him coming back as well since the director was coming back for part II. Too bad he didn't come back because I feel he got better chemistry with RDJ then DC.

Favreau wanted Cheadle from the start but Cheadle wasn't available for the first flick.

IMO Howard portrayed the character better.

but it was the wrong type of chemistry howard/rdj seemed more like dennis the menace and an overbearing manny.Howard is very soft spoken and effeminate so he also came off subservient. Rhodes isnt a gofer hes got military credentials, DC aint perfect but at least he doesnt come off so spineless
Scust @ nikkas talking about he should taken the $1M..
Hes not exactly a name in the industry, he takes the cut while still being attached to a monster franchise. The exposure he gets is limitless and could lead to bigger pay days down the line.He was feeling himself a lil too much and now look at him

ps how exactly did turning down marvel's offer relegate him to have to start all over again :why: went from receiving millions to 60k a movie? :mindblown:

I wish they would have kept him as War Machine, just off of the onscreen chemistry that him and RDJ had. Yet you have to respect his stance especially considering how the other actors from the Avengers got shafted in comparison to what RDJ made. As far as exposure goes superhero movies make a lot of money but the actors suffer due to being typecasted to that role.

There's never a reason to take more than a 75% pay cut for a movie with a comparable (larger?) budget than the first one. That's an insulting offer, I can't believe you nikkas would have taken that.

He got exposure from the first one, hoeing himself on a project where he clearly wasn't wanted wouldn't change that. If he ain't liked in the industry he ain't liked.

And you say now look at him...yes, look at him, he's paid enough to the point he doesn't have to work a 9-5, and shouldn't have to do so for the rest of his life. He'll be OK.

:rudy: obviously I meant comparably to what he earned for ironman?

Tough call on coming back for a lot lower pay. On one hand you look a little spineless, but just putting yourself out there in a franchise can be worth its money in exposure. Maybe he would have gotten a War Machine stand alone movie at some point too.

The problem is that he isn't Tom Cruise or Denzel. He doesn't have the option to tun down that role and take another movie for comparable or higher pay. He said it himself about making 60K after that. There was not a market for him to be making $5 mill+ a movie so he really played himself. Not every actor in Hollywood is worth the same $. Robery Downey Jr. was the reason that franchise blew up and he has been paid accordingly.

I like Cheadle better anyway :pachaha:

Not having to work for the rest of his life? Stop it lol. His film credits aren't that long. He divorced with kids. Let not act like he has worked like Denzel. He is a good actor but being set for life never to work again? Nah.

He's made more than most will ever make in their lives. If he's ever forced to work a 9-5, it's cuz he fukked up.
