While I don’t agree this is closer than people think, both played for bad franchises and needed to be second and third options in order to win. Pau is better and didn’t make all star teams because 00s West PF is goat position.

two things ive noticed about kobe stans on here:
1.) theyre obsessed with LeBron, and I don't know why. its not like LeBron & kobe were rivals or anything.
2.) kobe stans love to downplay his teammates in hopes of justifying the way they overrate him.
the Celtics lineup being healthy is the reason they lost in 08.
lakers stole those rings in 09 & 10, if we're being real.

Kobe won his 2 solo rings in possibly the weakest nba era. Boston was good, but the spurs were between the Duncan/Parker/Ginobili prime and getting kawhi, all the stars in the east were separated, pre warriors, etc. shyt my Melo-led nuggets were 2 successful inbound passes away from a ring.

They're upset that LeBron was being compared to greats (particularly Jordan) since 17 while Kobe had to earn it. Honestly that's what this comes down to. There isn't one single other two-player comparisons this polarizing and that's really the reason why.
So Kobe gets all the credit for "making Gasol better" and not the coach who ran the most successful offense of the last 30 years?
Love is a better 3PT shooter, and you can say better rebounder than Gasol. That's where it stops. Nobody with a serious opinion wants prime Love over prime Gasol.
Kobe won 2 rings against a Magic that had no business being in the Finals (courtesy of Mike Brown coaching like Dwight was Hakeem and letting the 4 shooters rain on them) and a Celtics team that suffered an injury right before Game 7.
Love wasn't even available in Year One playoffs, nor was Kyrie, the team made history in Year Two, and NONE of you believed the 2017 Warriors were losing the NBA Finals.
To say LeBron was supposed to win in 2015 or 2017 you're conceding that he's miles better than Kobe and failed based on having that much ability.
And no legitimate NBA player (or very few) would take prime LeBron over prime Kobe and yet we see Bron stans day after day on this site claiming Bron is way better than Kobe because of stats.
I'm simply using their own argument against them. I agree with you that its silly to compare Love to Gasol. I would take Gasol 10 times out of 10. But I would also take Kobe everytime over LeBron. Why? Because I use my eyes to judge basketball and not a stat sheet. Because when all you do is look at the stats it does lead to silly opinions like Love being better than Gasol.

Box score stats, advanced stats, stats in the Finals, playoff totals and averages, just about every state created points to LeBron being better than Kobe. The "eye test" tells me Kobe has better footwork (the source of counter moves) and a better mid-range shot. That's where it stops. A fellow Kobe stan of yours has admitted that preferring Kobe is just that, a preference, choosing style over substance.
