Cause we watched basketball back then and saw Kobe outplay Shaq several times in the Western Conference Finals during those years. Shaq got the finals MVPs for dominating the weak Eastern conference teams. But in the West it was many times Kobe that saved the day.
For example, in game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals against the Blazers it was Kobe that led the Lakers 4th quarter comeback. Shaq didn't play all that well that game and it was the game that launched the dynasty.
Only a hater with an agenda would diminish Kobe's accomplishments with Shaq. That was a 1a/1b relationship from 2001 on. 2000 is the only year Kobe was the "2nd option". And even then, he outplayed Shaq in game 7 against the Blazers as I mentioned earlier and then in the finals with a severely sprained ankle that cost him nearly 2 games he led the Lakers to victory in a critical Game 4 after Shaq fouled out in the 4th quarter.
that's because shaq had to deal with double/triple teams, which allowed kobe to get his chit off.
and then you go on to contradict yourself. you praise kobe's finals performance against the pacers, but in the same post youre referring to east teams as weak. is it oochie wally wally or is it one mic?
I'm not diminishing kobe. he was simply expendable on that lakers squad. theres a handful of players at the time, who you could've replaced kobe with, and got the same results OR BETTER.
Bosh & Wade, Kyrie & Love >>>>>> Gasol & Odom
Kobe was like 19 breaking off a still elite Scottie Pippen in Game 7's
gotta luv how these kobe stans are so young & dumb.
kobe was 21 and in his 4th year.
and pippen was not still elite in 2000.
kobe stans are the exact equivalent of lil wayne stans.
yall are often times the same people too.
nikka Kobe was 16 and Scottie was the best defensive player in the league that year by a wide margin. And Kobe made him look retarded and broke him off every game. I was only born in 2005 but my dad and older brother told me all about it. Stay mad
Pau Gasol (before he joined Kobe), according to stats, which I'm told by LeBron stans is how to "objectively" judge a player, is a worse basketball player than Kevin Love (before he joined LeBron).
Here are the OBJECTIVE and UNBIASED numbers for all to see.
Kevin Love (Per 36 mins) on Minnesota (6 seasons): Kevin Love Stats | Basketball-Reference.com
21.1 PPG (56.6 TS%)
13.4 RPG
2.7 APG
0.7 SPG
0.5 BPG
23.2 PER
- 3-time NBA All-Star
- 2nd team All-NBA (2x)
Pau Gasol (Per 36 mins) on Memphis (7 seasons): Pau Gasol Stats | Basketball-Reference.com
19.1 PPG (56.6 TS%)
8.7 RPG
3.1 APG
0.5 SPG
1.9 BPG
21.6 PER
- 1-time NBA All-Star
- no All-NBA selections
Looking at the numbers, there is a clear edge to Kevin Love in almost every category outside of blocks and assists. The advanced stats like PER also favor Kevin Love over Pau Gasol (23.2 vs 21.6). Also when you look at the awards (like All-Star and All-NBA selections), they also favor Kevin Love over Pau Gasol. Before joining Kobe, Pau was a 1-time All-Star and never made an All-NBA team. While Kevin Love (before joining LeBron) was a 3-time All-Star and 2-time All-NBA 2nd team selection.
LeBron has zero excuses to not a ring this year if we're to believe that he's better than Kobe as his stans always say. Kobe took a worse player statistically than Kevin Love to 3 straight finals and won back to back rings. If Kobe can win 2 rings with just Pau Gasol, LeBron has no excuse for not winning with just Kevin Love.
