The same Durant that got shutdown by Jason Kidd last year:comeon:

thats cause for some odd reason they allow old man kid to play defense with his hands. where he gets to arm bar guys on the perimeter and hand check people like its the 90's. he did the same thing to kobe. i've seen kobe blow by kid and they would allow kid to trail him and hold on to him with two hands. illegal in this era. but thats something kobe deals with every night. KD dont know nothing about that kind of defense. KD, LBJ, Dwade(healthy), they dont know nothing about that 90's life. they dont wany any parts of that 90's defense. believe me.

but durant doesnt have GREAT offense without a GREAT screen. thats what yall are failing to realize. there are rules in place right now that makes defenders back off of him or makes then not be able to put that arm on him like pip could back in his day. two different eras.

a thin guy like KD wouldnt be the leading scorer in the nba back in the 90's. he would be manhandled.

Can't disagree with that, but YALL have to realize times have changed and all of this "If it were back in the day..." :stopitslime: Man them days is over. As of right now in today's league a Prime Pippen would get torched even if only from a few selection of players

The fact of the matter is no matter how great the defensive player is, the best offensive players in the league are going to get theirs and could go off for 40+ at any time no matter how good the defense is. Pippen is still one if not the greatest perimeter defender in history and he has been torched many times by great scorers; it is what it is. In basketball the offensive guy just has that advantage.

It's ridiculous to think that Pippen or anybody ever created is just going to shut down a guy like LeBron or Durant or Melo one-on-one on any type of consistent basis. Yeah, sure, maybe for one game you could shut one of these guys, or even frustrate them for a series, but you're not going to just shut down a player like that every time you play him.

:what:

did you not see Shaqs big body freeing up Penny on those possessions? and with the right pass pick and roll couldve worked.

just because he's big. doesnt mean he truly knows how to use his strength. he doesnt. if he did. he would've had 3 ships already. the dude is just now learning how to use that weight, size and strength. and he may never figure it out totally. he still doesnt punk people in the post. he just goes down there more often then he use to . as big as he is, he should be punishing people down there. but he doesnt. everything you see him do is based on his speed, athletic ability. every now and then. you see him drop the shoulder and bump a guy backwards. but he has to get a nice head of steam to do this. a serious handcheck/arm bar will stop him from ever reving up to begin with. thats how you stop these hyper athletes from bull rushing the rack. get up in them. put your arm on em so you can feel where they are about to go next. and then you cut it off. now i'm not saying these elite athletes wouldnt figure it out after a few years of 90s hoop. they would. but before they figured it out. they would look nearly as good as they do right now.

he could shutdown durant because durant is weaker and thinner. he could literally push kd around. JUST LIKE RON did in previous years. the only thing has changed is that durant learned to lower his dribble and he goes around more screens to get free. dont be fooled by a box score, watch the games.

yes kd or anyone else could go off here and there. but over a 7 game series. kd would have an ugly fg%. thats all that counts. can i get you to take a ton of horrible shots and make you miss a lot. if the answer is yes. then thats called shutting a guy down.

This is like saying David Robinson would would get roasted by Dwight because Shaq dunked on him a couple times. So cause 6 very good to great offensive players had good games against Pip he'd get demolished? Good research skills on your part, if they're accurate, but stats ain't everything and don't always say the whole story.

Also, when you say stuff like "even Melo" it makes me think you have no idea what you're talking about even more because Melo is more offensively skilled/balanced than Bron AND Durant.

:beli:Point is Penny didn't need Shaq to score let alone a pick from anyone. Nitpicking a few pick and roll plays between the two to downplay how good Penny was is dumb. Penny didn't need screens from Shaq to be successful, that was the point, FOH with that shyt.
