That new God of War game might kick that off for this genre. I won't pass judgement on it til I see it in action though.

Thing is, I'm not exactly thrilled or looking forward to MP in a GOW game, simply cuz thus far, the story hasn't really had any sensible way to seem to make that work, as Kratos doesn't trust anyone and never has any buddies and whatnot. Like you, I won't pass total judgment till I at least see it in action, let lone play it myself as well, but I think it'd be silly having like 3-4 people all playing Kratos. I never liked MP games to just have everyone controlling the exact same character.

Batman on the other hand, already has an established relationship of allies and they've already allowed you to control them in the most recent game, so it makes a lot of sense already to have them fighting alongside with him and that'd be much better done and more fun with another human than an A.I. controlled assistant. Technically speaking, it makes even more sense for Batman to have his friends help him this time cuz realistically speaking, if Batman was to take on as many of his main enemies alone in 1 night as he does in this game, he'd quite possibly not make it out alive.

And they could easily incorporate this to work for both online and offline, as the fighting challenge rooms could be done offline and the more grand scale ones of like using the city could work with other players being Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman. I don't think they could lose going this route, as long as they put the same level of craft all across the board.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
A lot of the blame falls on the consumers though. If people aren't buying the unique single player games that do get released then there is no reason for developers to continue to make them. Do you kow how many people consider single player games as just rentals now or wait to buy them used? If a game doesn't have a massive 50 hour single player campaign and competitive multiplayer gamers start whining.

Which is why I said I blame the gamers this gen a lot as well...check my posts..

this gen been dead for a year now, right now we just putting dirt on top of dirt, nothing new nothing innovative at all and we still got sky rocketing system prices. the prices of theses consoles make me think the new ones are gonna be ATLEAST 500.. or better. Another thing im tired of the unreal engine, it has ruined a lot of developers creativity and even games game-play elements such as splinter cell :gag:

I think overall this gen is an improvements on the last one which was pup to this point was the best. Honestly every gen of games systems has improved upon the previous the genre focused on may always change from platformers to rpgs to fps etc, but t this point we have a good catalog of gems to choose from.

As much as I want a new console gen I don't think any of these companies are really ready to step up everything so far in regards to rumors doesn't seem like much of a step forward. Give them another year or two to make that leap.

 nah breh....the 16-bit era was the GOAT gaming era.

You had original content, arcade ports, ACTUAL CHEAT CODES, Password Saving) which was much CHEAPER than memory cards, console exclusivity actually MEANT something. Among other things...we will never see that in gaming again...the business model overtook the artistry for the most part.

I used to think the same I loved that era but a lot of that was nostalgia.

I do miss the cheat codes and passwords and all that from yesteryear that not turned to dlc. Of course the the exclusives carried weight which one of the bad things this gen but look where that got SEGA and to some extent Nintendo. Sony is doing their thing and probably the only real reason to have a PS3 as all other games are on the 360.

But honestly overall I think legendary as the 16-bit era was we are well passed it.

i get it but thats what made the games so good....yeah there were alot of shytty games but there were MORE.

DLC while its cool so we don't get Super Street Fighter 2012 Arcade Mega Turbo Championship Hyper Fighting Edition IV for a full 50 is great, it sucks cuz people can put out inferior product to meet a quota. 16 Bit was great because the things that broke the game were ACCEPTED and it was a reward for even having the game. the Developers way of saying "here have even MORE fun with this" i think this same console same games ruined the artistry of it. When capcom can put out RE, SF with just Dragon's Dogma as the only new IP...its wack. Capcom used to be dropping new piff EVERY year...Megaman's, Captain Commando, the Final Fights, Street Fighters, i just want more out here man...
