what makes it so shytty is the lack of console exclusives....having a SNES and a Genesis were DRASTICALLY different gaming experiences
This gen brought many terrible business practices that are going to be here for while. Companies charging people for on disc dlc for example is ridiculous. Not to mention, certain companies (Square and Capcom) who were piff in the past seem to have gotten worse this gen.
Despite the great games we've received this gen, I can't disagree with the thread title.

I don't see why people want more exclusives. I for one don't like having to pay 500 bucks to play one or 2 games I couldn't get on my main system. If it wasn't for MGS4 I still wouldn't have a PS3. At this point I wish I had that 500.

Why is that something you hate? Why is that a bad thing?i hate the fact that it really didn't matter which console i got...it was all the same games.
The GAMES ain't the best this gen GTFOH..most of the biggest games this gen have been sequels to past gen games...it was SO much more variety in past gens I don't see how anyone can think any different...I mean PS2 ALONE has had more quality games than all 3 current gen systems combined...ESPECIALLY considering the fact that the only system and even mostly releases exclusive games is PS3...shyt has NOTHING to do wit nostalgia...only genre I could say got stepped up this gen was fighting games...

Who cares what the "biggest" games were? There was so much variety, the only limiting factor is probably yourself. I got RPGs, DMC-style action games, puzzlers, adventures, platformers, metroidvanias, fighters out the ass. And each of those have very varied games within themselves. Portal is different from Catherine is different from Braid. Mirror's Edge is way different from Donkey Kong Country is different from Little Big Planet is different from Super Meat Boy is different from Mario Galaxy. Xenoblade, Valkyria Chronicles, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, The Witcher, Lost Oddyssey. shyt even, Bulletstorm, Gears of War, Halo, Uncharted, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament 3, Battlefield.
Variety exists. It just doesn't necessarily sell well. I'm proud to say, I'm not part of that problem.

How is that a bad thing? It's bad because it give me no reason to buy anything else but the one console.
What competition are you referring to exactly? What's the result? The competition is wack so no one is really trying hard outside of a few studios.
Solid point and maybe true to an extent but I find many multiplatform games to be better than any of the Uncharted's (Portal 2 and Arkham City for example). Maybe those games could have been even better if they were developed for only one platform... but then again, their budget would have to be smaller because they wouldn't get as many sales. And if their budget is smaller maybe the game wouldn't come out much better after all.I don't think Naughty Dog would really have made Uncharted as good as it is if the resources were split between xbox and ps3 dev. Might up the money but the product isnt as good.

In any case, I've had enough reason to justify purchasing a Wii, 360 and PS3 and enjoy them all. But that's just me. I just don't think it was inherently better when each of the consoles had more exclusives.
OP is right, this is the least progress a gen has had I can remember, Nintendo's worst system, and the least amount of memorable and replayable games.
