Lets keep it real, this is the worst Gen of consoles ever

Most fukked up things this gen:

- Xbox360 out the gate first and fukks up everything. XBL and RROD just showed them how much sheep gamers are. You can sell a completely broken system and they'll keep coming back for more. Charge them to play online when they already pay for online...yep, thanks suckers. M$ Points...fake money

- Sony charging $600 for a PS3 out the gate Gaming is a luxury but these mufukkas actually attaching luxurious price tags.

- M$ throwing HD-DVD in the bushes after losing the war. They could have still used those discs for the games.

- DLC and online passes

- Multiplayer in every single game. Stop it Bioshock 2 didn't need it, Dead Space 2 didn't need it. Spend that time adding more levels to the game instead of adding a worthless multi.

- Patches and update installs on release day purchase

- Mass Effect 3 ending and the fallout...shyt was horrendous on both sides of the fence

- Madden exclusivity

True. Sho nuff, there were a lot of missteps this gen, but there also was plenty of accomplishments as well and some of the best games ever were created this gen too.

DLC shenanigans may have squandered some games, but it also heightened others. DLC in itself isn't a bad thing. Actually, its true intention is a great thing, but it's all in the manner of how it's incorporated.

In regards to strictly the games, despite some bouts of sequalitis, this gen had some of the most original IPs and creative ideas for enriching gameplay than ever. Games like LBP, Mirror's Edge, Journey, Demon's Souls to name a few, haven't been done before or to this magnitude on consoles prior. Then there's the rise of digital content and the PSN/XBL formats that have paved the way for more bite-sized games (relatively speaking) that has made room for smaller game devs to get their foot in the door and has provided the ability to relive, remodel and reinvigorate many of the classics from gaming's past at budget prices, and in many cases, even for free. And online gaming may have simply existed in the past, but it took off tremendously here, for better or worse, but most say for the better as proven from our current gameplay habits. Let's also not forget the resurrection of the fighting game genre.

Also, this gen has provided more ways and venues than ever to be able to game. Love em or hate em, there's motion controls, touch-screens, 3D, traditional portable game consoles, cell phone and tablet gaming, etc. You pretty much can game however you want, whenever you want and wherever you want now. And it can't be argued or minimized how much of game changing factors like HD gaming and the soon-to-be-had streaming gaming is bringing forth here. Let's not forget the feasting of streaming videos to our systems either, as there's only few gaming folks out there not eating off the likes of Netflix primarily off their consoles.

Lastly, this gen had some of the harshest conditions to cope with (like the rise of game development costs, the move to HD, used gaming market battles and the downfall of economy), that had direct impacts on how this gen played out (no pun intended), some not even initially directly involving gaming itself (the ongoing war assisting the FPS fixiation, gas price hike, Snooki), but affecting its overall output nonetheless and it still became an undeniably massive success, surpassing all gens before it.

Personally I don't even need a new gen any time soon. Have too much of a backlog as it is. Could never say that for any past gen because I lost interest in so many games I bought, but this time because of online/achievements, I'm still playing games I bought in 2006.

This gen brought many terrible business practices that are going to be here for while. Companies charging people for on disc dlc for example is ridiculous. Not to mention, certain companies (Square and Capcom) who were piff in the past seem to have gotten worse this gen.

Despite the great games we've received this gen, I can't disagree with the thread title.

I think last gen was the worst as far as graphics and games go. Xbox and PS2 were if your gonna compare to this gen or n64/ps1 days

i agree... Nostalgia is a beast.... Every Gen has one genre that seems to be the strongest... the ps2 gen had RPGs imo.

This Gen is pretty good. Even though we had to pay for online, Online play was revolutionized this gen, The sytems do alot more.

The GAMES ain't the best this gen GTFOH..most of the biggest games this gen have been sequels to past gen games...it was SO much more variety in past gens I don't see how anyone can think any different...I mean PS2 ALONE has had more quality games than all 3 current gen systems combined...ESPECIALLY considering the fact that the only system and even mostly releases exclusive games is PS3...shyt has NOTHING to do wit nostalgia...only genre I could say got stepped up this gen was fighting games...
