I think in the grandscheme Bouncy Knowles-Carter trumps Kanye in that respect.

Kanye is more of a rebel, he would be closer to a Prince than a Michael Jackson.
I would say Kanye way more influence on the culture.
Jay is really just riding Beyonces wave.

He changed the musical landscape...and even the aesthetic of this generation.

Even the hate he gets in pop culture is a testament to how big he is.

That's why I say he is comparable to a Prince than MJ.
Prince influence a shyt load of sounds and styles of dress in the 80's That New Wave R&B/ Minneapolis Sound was much from his dominance. Tons of Prince clones in the 80's
But he is also rebel in the way Kanye is with his music and personality.

While MJ was a huge Iconic artist and maybe way more popular I think the influence get's a a little scattered at times. Beyonce and MJ have closer similaries in how they run their artistic ship and persona.

Remember Ye broke that wall of gangster rap and the genre hasn't been the same since.

Yea, there were conscious artists in the 90s but nothing like Ye.

Eminem broke through the walls of gangster rap before Kanye actually :yeshrug:
